Posting this a little bit early because I just know quite a number of people will not get the joke… I mean at all. The only reason I came up with this joke is because of the little bit of research that I did just for keeping this comic somewhat faithful to the source material. http://www.veritablehokum.com/comic.....d-family-tree/ Do you know how incredibly difficult it is to go though the mythology of a religion that no longer exists? Of course, I will have to make some minor changes. For example, should Min ever be drawn, he will be depicted as a peacock… seems appropriate to me.
But here's the basic story… See Anubis and a bunch of the other gods got drunk at this party and there was this head of lettuce. Uncle Min thought it'd be funny for Anubis to make out with a lettuce… and well, one thing led to another and then well… stuff happened… yatta yatta, so now he has a son, namely in Anubis Junior.
I am personally looking forward to Father's Day too.
Also to answer the other obvious question… there are multiple Shabti. They're like a special species all of their own. All of whom are named "Shabti" because you must remember that they are not real living beings. I'm not saying this to be mean, but they're litterally no more emotional than your chair. Logical sure, but not emotional. Also, each Shabti can only do what thier master/creator comands/makes them to do. The reason that the Shabti you're all familar with listens to both Anubis Sr. and Anubis Jr. is because they both made him.

It took me a moment to get the joke but it awesome.
The only thing I may have changed it the shape of the Lettuce (I actually did a Project on Min during High School) The proper shape of the should have been more *Ahem* Phallic Shaped.
The lettuce represents the Male of the Fertilization process, especially considering the white sap that it secretes.
So, as someone somewhat familiar with this, it was... interesting...

Ah, so it was more of a romain lettuce than the lettuce that I'm familar with. I do appologize about that mistake as I do know of other lettuces, I just prefer the round kind as it's more distinguishable to a western audience.
However, I do thank you as I was wondering why a head of lettuce was his symbol. Now I see that he can have three heads for a full set.
Just remember that Min himself is not the "mother" either, he just happened to suggest things to the drunk god.
If I may ask, what exactly did they mean by "tainted" lettuce? Or am I better off not knowing the answer to that particular question?

Don't apologize, like you said its a religion that doesn't really exist anymore, but the Egyptian Gods do fascinate (Its pretty much the reason why I found you actually while looking for Images of Anubis and found your comics)
As for the the "Tainted Lettuce", I do have an answer for that, and while it is on the border of NSFW, but strangely enough fits with this comic quite well
Horus and Set constantly had battles with each other over who rightfully ruled Egypt. At one point, Set had somehow tricked Horus into Intercourse to prove who was better in bed, but while a winner could not be determined (They both lost stamina at the same time), Horus had caught some of Set's semen in his hand, and spread it onto some lettuce. Horus then tricked Set into eating said lettuce. At that point, in the eyes of the other gods, Horus was considered Dominate over Set for making him eat his own Semen, thus it was considered Horus won that battle.
Seriously, sometimes I read these Egyptian Myths and just picture all the gods together in a collage FURturnity.
Actually, typing that out now, I would actually read a comic based on that idea. Maybe I should keep that in mind for when I get my Tablet to start up my stuff.

Yeah, most mythologies are like that. Why else to you think most fraternities pick the greek gods as thier pateon deities? It's certainly not because Bacchus happened to be good at chemestry, if you know what I'm saying. And they're not the only ones. Do you know how many times Loki was knocked up? The dude was a real beast in bed… pun intended.
