I've been after OtakuWolf to do an art with my char driving a tank. This discussion and request has been a couple of years in the making. Having to convince Ota to draw a tank in the first place. "Um Ota a tank is just like a Mecha. Just not a complicated." And so it went for a long time. Finally I got another slot for art and I offered him a Challenge and he was a tad apprehensive about drawing a tank. (Brings up the mecha argument)
As Ota went down the list of art in the group I had figured I would be one of the last pieces. And Per his Request I provided him with a batch of Schematics and drawings of the Panther straight out of the WWII files. However before that he assumed I wanted a Tiger tank and he drew one and I liked his art but that was not the tank I was after. I also had to send in drawings and pictures of uniforms so things would look better. Much as I would Love a naked big chested Fennec commanding a tank it was a tad more than Ota does.... (Smiles)
Of Course a latex suit would also be way our of character or time zone for the art so a nice uniform it was. If you had a chance to watch his Stream of making the art it was a very interesting thing. i would recommend watching him draw its fun.
Now the answer people are asking. Why have a Panther tank drawn and your avatar commanding it? Well that's simple and then I suppose not. Back in 2011 a new game came out called World of Tanks. I was intregued about it and of course ordered it with my new Desktop that I custom built myself. up to that time I had worked at Dell Computers as an Auditor inspecting them so I always got one every other year. My XPS 600 was showing its age and things were at that point advanced way beyond it. I was now working for the state having been laid off by dell in 2007 and had finally gotten a good Tax return check.
I consulted a gamer friend and purchased all the pieces for a decent gaming rig including the Mid range new I-7 chip and dual 560 video cards that I bridged. A few months later I came down with pneumonia and nearly died. I was home bound for over a month. During that time I played World of Tanks when I was awake and when I tired I went back to bed. It was s cycle for a good month till my strength came back. At that time I became involved in the new Clan wars aspect of the game and I ran a Female clan and also later became commander of ShellShocked the clan that was nearly banned for its logo. I had no idea that anything SS was not allowed and I did read the clan logo notices.
My favorite tank is the Panther tank from Germany. It was most feared by the allies and with good reason. The new design and angled armor was better than the Russian tank it was to battle with and its long barrel High velocity 75mm gun was deadly. The Americans found out how deadly when they landed in France. American armor was paper thin compared to the Panther and their guns not very effective.
The Panther had all the advantages but numbers when in battle. The gun could shoot through an American Sherman tank with ease and often they blew up do to poor ammo storage. In world of tanks it was a great tank till they began equalizing things. However the bonus of the High Velocity 75 is still there and I have been caught up in tier 10 battles and one of them a Maus on the other team just ignored me and I put a good number of holes in his tank taking out his commander, driver, engine and finally igniting his ammo for a big boom!. I still remember his complaining that I was cheating and using gold rounds.. Nope none of that I just shot him in the side where the HV 75's shells easily went through.
So now I finally have my logo tank and char to use for World of Tanks...

That is a great tank you've got there! Unfortunately for you however it would be my duty to destroy it, and I think I've got the right tool for the job too ;3
It's very Russian... stuff the biggest possible gun you can on there and everything else is ancillary. Although for its size and weight it had a good frontal armor profile too. Helps when the fuel tanks are directly over the front road wheels! :V
A problem with the Panther, or the Panzer V, was that the turret traverse motor was so underpowered that it couldn’t traverse the turret on a hill. Also, that rounded gun mantle had a nasty tendency to deflect shells into the thinly armored top of the Panther’s hull. This is known as a shot trap. Though it was a good design, the tolerances were too tight, and any additional weight added to the vehicle would over stress its systems.
Actually they solved that couple of issues on the G variant, the one of the picture it's a A variant, (basically full from the MAN VK 30.02),
the turret motor of A was from the Pz. IV G with a new spocket* for the new turret ring, but goes underpowered, and fixed on G variant with his own disseign*, and for turret mantle they extended it with a semi-bubble, (a chin), for avoid the shells get trough the underside of turret.
