I always knew that Newton's method could be used to generate fractals in the complex plain, as it is very sensitive to initial conditions. This made me wonder if other root finding methods could produce similar fractals. This is the result of using the secant method on the function (x^4 - 1). Each point in the map represents the first input, and the origin is used for the second input. It produces this beautiful, multifaceted star pattern, that is reminiscent of a stained glass window you might find in a cathedral.
