Hey guys, last day before the month ends.
Got this typed up in time before anything else.
Let's get to it!
CLE Prieto Robusto:
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Pre-Light/Construction:
Like the stick in the last review, the same appearance played the part, except this one was a little more sharply packed. For a Gordo size, there was some charm to it. The wrapper it self was a bit rough, but slightly oily for presentation. The aroma was slightly sweet and cedary. Seems were nearly invisible, and the veins moderate at best. Let's light this seductive stick up!
The Burn Part 1:
From the first few puffs, there was a gentle taste of sweet chocolate and earthy notes. The draw was nice and balanced for being tightly packed into a box press. The cigar itself became a little looser as the draw continued. Some pepper formed up near the end. Great start so far.
The Burn Part 2:
The chocolate notes become a little more lighter as some medium roast coffee notes came into the mix. The coffee gave the chocolate more of a mellow balance. The earthy notes remained the same, but started to change a little to some more floral. The pepper notes became a little more progressive, giving it that sweet and spicy combo I love so much. As the 2nd end began to come to a close, a certain roasty note came into play.
The Burn Final:
With the final few coming down, the pepper dwindled down bit, while the floral earth notes began to wind down as well. The chocolate notes however remained strong as they were in the beginning surprisingly. The stick became spongey from the squeeze. With the last puff starting to feel the burn, I let it down wanting something sweet afterwords. The craving was that powerful.
Verdict:
Something sweet on your mind? This is one sweet stick for you.
Great for the price as well. Grab yourself a few of these and plan them for an after dinner smoke.
Next Month: Oscar Connecticut
See you guys then. :D
