I'm a former competitive target shooter and shooting coach, your level of detail is (pardon the pun) "Bang on!"
Your research certainly paid off, the level of detail on the lock is quite complimentary to the overall image. And the action implied by the ignition of powder in the pan adds considerably to the drama and interest.
I also love the way you've captured the reflection of the pan in his deep green eyes. Bravo!

Wow what a cool profession, is it like clay shooting ot like a target?! And thank you I appreciate the comment, I really do :) Im pretty aweful at drawing guns, so when I do a commission for someone i need to do a lot of research to make sure it looks correct. Im from Aus, so guns... arent really a thing here ^^; Dont even think I have seen a real one in real life, just props ^^;
Not a career, just a hobby. I started out as a clay shooter (skeet, some trap, a bit of sporting clays) and then joined a pistol club. From there, I joined the board of the club, became a coach and started coaching rifle shooting (F-class, 300 to 1200m outdoors) with the Ontario Rifle Association. Guns aren't really a thing in Ontario, Canada either, unlike our US cousins to the south.
But there is still some healthy Commonwealth rifle competition if you know where to look. I was at the Masters in Sydney in 2009, but I wasn't shooting. Getting too old. These days, I help out with a Masters Ladies Soccer (Football) team.
