Ooooh - painted a Heraclian Byzantine army only last year. There are some marvelous decals for shields now - so for Byzantines/medieval Russians, you can plaster madonna and child icons, Christ in the clouds etc all over the place, and have an army that looks like a mobile icon showroom. Cool!
