I was fortunate enough to be able to see the eclipse. Seen here at 80% coverage, not bad for being as far north as we are here in Michigan. A total eclipse would have been awesome, but I'm happy to even have seen it at all, we were supposed to be cloudy today.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to use my good camera to snap pics because I wasn't able to get the filter paper for the lens, BUT I did have my handy travel camera and I used the lens of the filter glasses to cover the lens of the camera to snap some pics. Not wholly professional by any means, but when you're thinking on your feat, you have to take what you can get. I used my mono-pod slid into the hole of an outdoor table to steady (my tripod is in use by a friend of mine, go figure) and I set the timer so it would stay nice and still.
I took multiple pics to make sure I got good ones and am happy even with this quality to document it :D

Never occurred to me that this needs to celebrated with strudel. The hot sticky frosting and photography gear is a no go. Like the overly sugared and creamed monstrosities from Star Schmucks. They do a real number on a professional flash rig power supply. The caramelizing fats and sugars caught fire in the spill on the equipment. The wonders of the stupidity in the student studios.
Okay, frosting would make for very messy smears on lenses. As for the coffee, pro flashes on the stand and umbrellas need a stand alone plug in power supply and converter when the flash gets to certain ratings. Imagine starting a electrical fire with a thick sugar water slurry.
Honestly, between backers wanting Arnold and the mandatory toy placements. I don't think they really could have written a cohesive script to meet the demands of all the concerned parties that put millions into the production. And Joel had the "I'm contractually obligated to direct this script that is the death of my career" screw over.
It was very amazing, when totality hit all you could see was the black circle, and from the edges were these like ribbons of color, white and some blue green and many shades of purple. And these ribbons extended all the way around the black circle in big loops. I had never scene any thing like it, its actually hard to describe cuz I have nothing I can compare it to as a point of reference.

Just some filmstrip. Doesn't have to be anything special. Can even be blank.

I've spent about 3 hours watching some stream where there been shots of this happening while some 4 guys been arguing how Earth is flat, Moon is not that big and dark because of the most idiotic reasons i have ever heard in my entire life. Seriously, wanted to see some cool stuff, lost faith in humanity in there instead o.o
That's actually a pretty decent photo!
In 2024, plan to be in Cleveland. If Major League Baseball is smart, they will force the Cleveland Indians to have a home day game on that day. How cool would it be to be at a baseball game that has an Eclipse Delay?
A couple of minor league teams managed it this year:
