Here is a tidbit I thought of the other day. Since we will not get answer to this in Scales and Honor. Here is a story that takes place one hundred thirty years before Scales and Honor within the same universe. This is the story of a red dragon named Sheondranta, or as mortals would call her. The Radiant Flame.
