we tried a little (and udderly adorable) experiment in '15
*pauses for gorans*
growing your own beef. we picked up 3 unwanted bull calves. hand bottle fed and all. one didn't take, and i found out what James Herriot talked about in his various veterinary books, but the other two grew like weeds. one must have had some Holstein in him, and promptly got named "star" for a forehead marking.
this little cutie was named "Norman" and if you know where the name came from you win a cookie :P
they were a couple goofy kids all the way up to collection day. they destroyed an outbulding just rubbing horns *eyeroll* I didn't know cows pronked around, either :P
unfortunately, at processing time, two full grown bulls weighed in COMBINED at only 400 lbs, finished. and split three ways, that wasn't much to nom on. then one of the splitees had his freezer go kaput only a month ago. all that meat, gone
enjoy the adorabullness.
