"Photo-Op: Me On National Scrabble Day / April 13, 2017"
posted 8 years ago Anthro Artist
I'm posting this 'photo-op' on a Wednesday (instead of the usual "Throwback Thursday" presentation) - mainly because Wednesdays are the days I attend meetings of Scrabble Club 276 (at the Veterans Park clubhouse in Lauderhill, Florida)...
Back in April, the club celebrated National Scrabble(R) Day (around the time, over 50 or so years ago, when Alfred Butts patented his crossword board game). And, as usual, a special prize was given out to the player who (in the first two of three games) came up with the best word associated with the game (voted by fellow club members). As luck would have it, I had won it for coming up with the word "BINGO" (which, in Scrabble lingo, means making a word using all seven tiles on one's rack - scoring 50 bonus points, along with the value of the word one creates).
The prize I'd won was a new set of 100 blue Scrabble(R) tiles (ninety-eight with letters and two blanks) for my own game board. And it couldn't come at a better time, as the set of lettered tiles I was currently using was showing signs of 'wear and tear' (and the letters were fading on the yellow plastic).
Once again, club president Sandee Bloom took a picture of me and my latest prize with her digital camera.
