since my mother tongue is german, I am not really sure what this pun should mean
I suppose, it has something to do that "to bear something" - German "etwas tragen" could be translated as "to carry something"
while bear also can mean "Bär" - the animal -
is this correct?

I imagine that this picture might be a prequel to the comic, though given we're seeing him from the front and that he repeatedly showed that he just can't learn when to quit I suppose this could possibly be a sequel with him now possessing a 'baboon butt' and maybe no longer being the mayor. Greed, arrogance, abrasiveness, hypocrisy, racist remarks, all those delightful qualities didn't seem to include much capacity for learning a lesson so I think he could well repeat the same mistakes and go after honey.
In any case he probably hasn't thought this through. given that he's encumbered and already panting and the centaurs don't look like they'll tire any time soon and probably have the edge in endurance and running speed. If these male centaurs don't possess Macha's magical skills I imagine they might well give him a good trampling or kicking depending on how much they dislike thieves and how much of a slur 'horsebutt' would be considered. Then there's the giant bee and the possibility that they could end up swarming in again if any of the dropped honey jars break. Somehow I don't think he'll end up just getting tickled to death this time, unless he's very lucky and even if he does escape this time, how long until he pushes his luck again?
