Whoa, if they're using bucket-wheel excavators then all the surface deposits must have all been vacuumed up by large automated excavators like in the film Moon. Then there's the rust on the excavators, which means they were imported from a terrestrial planet as a cost-saver. That and that they haven't been refurbished for lunar operation means that Spartan is probably a pretty small-time mining business, so much so that they got their own trucking stop set up to make some side-cash. I love subtle little details like that.

...Or maybe I'm just inferring way too much. :P

Yeah it's a small company and the worse part is because they are pretty far away. No way they gonna get back home soon, so they have too make themselves home and make some side commercial exchange for some cash (as requested by the company too). They kinda created a internal exchange environment so money flow within the company and the transporters coming along. And yeah using some old terrestrial excavators is super cheap!

This reminds (pun not intended) me of the game Homeworld Remastered, in a good way.
