For this edition of "Throwback Thursday", we return to early September, 2017, when I'd taken two separate 'photo-ops' of the same setting (using the digital camera feature of a tablet), taking place 'before' and 'after' the arrival of "Hurricane Irma" (the Category Four storm that was wider than the entire 'Sunshine State')...
This scene was snapped from the back porch of my condo apartment at Oriole Gardens (a complex in Margate, Florida - where I've been residing for over twenty years). The 'before' picture (top) displays the ficus tree behind said porch - which usually provides me with plenty shade during the morning hours, after the sun rises. (And over the course of time, I'd seen many an animal in its branches, including all sorts of birds and lizards, as well as squirrels, and the occasional opossum.)
The 'after' picture (bottom) shows the destructive nature of "Hurricane Irma" (less than 48 hours after it passed through my area), as the left branch snapped off the tree like a twig, and you can see the debris on the grass below. Unfortunately, that's the main part of the tree that gave me shade. So now, if I want to eat breakfast on my back porch, I'd either have to wear sunglasses (to keep the morning glare of the sun out of my eyes), or I'll have to wait until lunchtime (when the sun is overhead)!
BTW, the cars in the background were parked on the grassy area behind my tree, as some of the parking spaces of Oriole Gardens are going to be revamped and resurfaced; So, local residents and 'snowbirds' (folks from the northern USA and Canada, who only live in Oriole Gardens a few months of the year) were asked to move their vehicles to this lawn (so as not to interfere with the impending construction work).
I'll have one more unique photo montage of my back porch tree, later today.
