The form the parasite takes on a Symdeiote is known as their "alignment." Alignment of a parasite is not discernible until it has attached itself to a Symdeiote, and is believed to be decided by the host's personality.
Stellar Symdeiote- Inspired by specific, individual stars-- not constellations! Anything put inside the "cage" formed by the parasite floats around inside it and is difficult to remove.
Puppeteer Symdeiote- Inspired by characters from folklore, legends, and mythology. The "strings" are incredibly flexible and they retain full range of motion in arms.
Angelic Symdeiote- Inspired by specific angels.
Demonic Symdeiote- Inspired by specific demons.
Symdeiotes can only be inspired by things with an individual name.
Symdeiotes are ageless, born as physical adults and do not die naturally. They are only socially considered adults once a Parasite has attached to it, and given the Symdeiote an alignment and magical gifts. Before this, they are "Juveniles." The parasite sucks the life out of the Symdeiote and eventually these "adults" will die and the parasite will find a new host. Using magical powers lessens the lifespan of the Symdeiote. The Parasite will die in a few weeks without a host, but if it can always find a host, it's immortal. Once attached, the parasite cannot be removed without instantly killing the host.
Juveniles live together in special "Nursery" cities. Once a parasite attaches itself, the Juvenile must leave the Nursery City and travel to the region of the world inhabited by the alignment. Every alignment lives seperatly, and has different relations with the other regions. For example, the Angelic and Demonic Symdeiotes are often at war.
All the alignments come together during certain astrological events to raid Nursery cities and kill Juveniles, to prevent Juveniles from avoiding the parasite and living forever. These murderous, destructive raids are considered holidays and are seen by adult Symdeiotes as a time of rejoicing and fun. Most Juveniles don't worry about the raids because it's usually a pretty quick process to find a parasite.... the few that "never want to grow up" might have a problem.
At this time, they are still a closed species.
