In the past, there was a woman. Her voice was that of an angel, able to bring joy and love to any who heard her. Her dances so lively and fun that all would join in. She was the delight of all who met her and befriended this mysterious performer, and as she journeyed across the land tales would spread of her to all kingdoms and settlements. One day, a young prince sought to see her perform, and summoned her to his castle. The woman happily came, a smile on her muzzle and prance to her step. As she danced and sang, the prince became smitten with her and proclaimed that she would be her wife. The woman, honored by his praise and nightlong adoration, smiled sadly and shook her head. "My heart is for all." She would say, and the prince became enraged. The most foul and horrific slurs poured from his mouth, denouncing her a witch, a devil, a harlot of the lowest dredges of society. The woman despite all of this simply shook her head, refusing to move on her stance. She was sentenced to the dungeons, and for weeks she languished down in the darkness, her haunting melody echoing through the halls of the castle.
One day, the singing stopped, and although still enraged over her refusal, the prince went down to investigate. When he returned he was as pale as winter snow and declared the dungeon be made into a crypt. The woman was buried there, under lock and key with heavy stone doors. Nothing of what he'd seen of her, or her dead body, was ever spoken of by the prince for the rest of his days. As he laid in his death bed, all he would say on the matter was, "She still wants to sing..." Centuries passed, and the crypt was left silent and untouched. But some say even to this day, the echoing notes of a haunting melody fill the air at night.
This is the first of a series of AMAZING Heartsong artwork I got this month from
AttacRacc who was doing themed streams all month for Halloween. It's based on one of the older Nosferatu posters and she captured a lot of the effects on the poster stupendously. It's so creepy and spooky~ I love showing off Heartsong's more disturbing and eldritch side during the holiday and who better to draw her doing this than the gal who helped make her for me?
