The song 'Something Stupid' was written in 1966 by C. Carson Parks and was originally recorded by he and his wife, Gaile Foote. In 1967 Frank Sinatra and his daughter Nany Sinatra had a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with it. In 2001, Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman topped the U.K. charts with it. Others have done remakes of it.
I don't even remember how long it's been for me since I joined Second Life. I guess I could go look it up. One of the first people I met there has become one of the most important people in my life,
Sharaye
Earlier this year, when I got so low as to actually try to commit suicide, Shar was the person who, from 3,000 miles away, got on the phone, found my local police department, and got me the help I needed. Long before that, though, I had already decided that I loved her. I spent quite a few hours with my 'bloo roo' talking to her, sharing my life, helping her to come out of her own shell, and while doing that, helping me to come out of mine. We even talked about getting married one day.
I am blessed beyond belief that someone who joined Second Life, the day after (or before) I did became best friend to both of Shar and I, and he was the person who put the ring on Shar's paw, and I am happy for both of them.
I always have used music to try to convey emotions, since I am so bad at actually trying to express them otherwise, and this was a song that I always associated with Shar, and that trying to tell her how much I loved her was 'Something Stupid' I would just be saying.
As I said, thankfully, she's married to a wonderful fur, and they are happy, and I am happy for them.
Darling, this song is for you. I love you, and I love Kit so much, thank you both for being in my life.
Something Stupid
I know I stand in line until you think you have the time
To spend an evening with me
And if we go someplace to dance, I know that there's a chance
You won't be leaving with me
And afterwards we drop into a quiet little place and have a drink or two
And then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like "I love you"
I can see it in your eyes
That you despise the same old lies you heard the night before
And though it's just a line to you, for me it's true
And never seemed so right before
I practice every day to find some clever lines to say
To make the meaning come through
But then I think I'll wait until the evening gets late and I'm alone with you
The time is right, your perfume fills my head, the stars get red and, oh, the night's so blue
And then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like "I love you"
The time is right, your perfume fills my head, the stars get red and, oh, the night's so blue
And then I go and spoil it all by sayin' something stupid like "I love you"
I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you
