One afternoon in Adventure Bay, Marshall was helping Aid tend to Herbie who had just bruised his leg when he was trying to get a squeaky toy from a tree he accidentally tossed on. Marshall just got finished applying the band aids. Aid put ointment on Herbie's leg a while ago.

Ok! You just stay off that leg for a couple of hours, and then you'll be good as new. Said Aid

Thanks Aid, and thank you too Marshall. Herbie said. But do I have to where this? He asked while looking a his cone collar.

Well, I guess if you want to heal faster. Said Marshall

Ok! Herbie complied

Then Roader came running in. He was chasing his wind up toy ladybug. Though he wasn't paying attention to where he was running.

Roader! Lookout! Aid and Marshall called

But it was too late, the toy ladybug ran right under Herbie, who was just getting up, thus leading Roader to run right in to the injured corgi. He crashed into Herbie pretty hard. Hard enough to hurt him all over again.

Ow ow ow ow! Herbie yelped. My leg! Ouuuuuch!

Oh no! Herbie are you okay? Asked Marshall as he rushed over to him.

Herbie whimpered. It feels wooorse! He said in pain.

Oh dear. We'll have to get that patched up or you'll have a hard time walking today. Aid says

Roader frowned. I-I'm sorry Herbie, I wasn't looking where I was going. He said

Aid looked at Roader. It's ok Roader. Just pay more attention next time alright? Aid asked kindly.

Ooookaaay. Roader said sadly and walks away.

He saw Rubble and Chase. They were playing frisbee. Roader started to gain a smile. Maybe I could play with them. He said to himself.

Rubble saw Roader. Hey Roader! You wanna play with us? He asked

Sure! I'd love to! Roader said as he joined the pups.

Here it comes Rubble! Chase said as he tossed the frisbee to him.

Rubble caught it and readied to toss it to Roader. Ready Roader? He said

You bet I am! Roader answers

And with that, Rubble hurls the frisbee to Roader. It went a little far, prompting Roader to run after it. He eventually catches it and brings it back to the other pups.

I hope you're ready for this one Chase! Roader said

Bring it Roader! Said Chase as he readies himself to catch it.

Roader jumps and then throws the frisbee. Chase tries to jump and catch it, but it was too high. And then the frisbee flew right into a tree.

Uh oh! I think you did that one too high Roader. Said Rubble

Oh. Roader says sadly. He looks at the ground in sorrow.

Chase saw this. Cheer up Roader. We'll just have to get the frisbee down from the tree that's all. He said

I guess. Roader says with a barely noticable smile, then walks away again.

This time, he sees Rocky. He was water the lants for Herbie since he's injured.

Hey Rocky. Roader said barely even looking at him.

Umm, hi Roader. Rocky said confusingly. What's the matter?

I've been causing nothing but problems lately. Roader explains. Why should I even try to do something right at this rate?

Aww do be like that Roader. Rocky sympathized. How about you help me with these flowers. He suggests

Well, ok. Says Roader, cheering up a little.

While I go get some fertilizer, can you water the flowers? Rocky asked

Of course! Roader said. Rocky gave him the watering can while he goes off to get the fertilizer. While watering the flowers, Roader started to feel a bit brighter.

I guess I was wrong! I can do something right. He says while smiling.

Rocky returns. Here's the fertilizer. He said

Great! Roader says with delight.

Rocky gets ready to fertilize the flowers while Roader continued to water them. Roader wanted to take a whiff at the flowers, but he did so just as Rocky poured the fertilizer on them. A cloud of plant fertilizer flew right into Roader's nose.

Ahhh, aahhhhh, AAAAAAACHOOOO! Roader sneezed. But when he did, he accidentally sneezed the watering can right at Rocky. The water splashed all over him, the flowers, and Roader.

Wet! Wet! Wet! Rocky exclaims

Whoops! Sorry Rocky. Roader says as he returns to his frown.

*shudder* It's alright Roader. Rocky said. It wasn't your fault, it was just an accident.

Yeah. An accident. Roader says sadly. I think you'll be better off handling these plants wothout me. He says as he walks away yet again.

Are you sure? Rocky asks, worried about Roader's emotions.

I'm positive. Roader responds. Or maybe I'm just negative. He whispers under his breath.

Next, he saw Skye and Zuma. He sighs at the sight of them, not wanting to make another mistake. They were playing volleyball.

Skye notices Roader. Hi Roader! Do you wanna play volleyball with us? She asked

I think you're asking the wrong pup Skye. Roader murmurs

Is something wrong Roader? Skye asked concernly.

Yeah, you look down dude. Said Zuma

I don't wanna talk about it. Roader said

Well, do you see feel like playing volleyball? Aid is going to come play with us as well. Skye said

*sigh* I don't know. Roader says

It's ok dude. It's only volleyball. Zuma says trying to encourage Roader.

Well, ok. If you two say so. Roader complies

Roader sides with Zuma. Then Aid appears.

Ok guys! I'm here! Said Aid

Alrght Aid, come on in! Said Skye

Aid sides with Skye. Then they start playing. Aid serves the ball. Zuma recieves it, and Roader manages to get it over the net. This starts to make him smile.

Hewe you go Woader! Zuma says as he recieves another spike from Aid. Roader gets ready to spike to ball back. When he does, he hits it as hard as he can to get a point. The ball gets spiked right onto Aid's head. Then it bounces onto Skye's nose.

Owww! Aid exclaims

Ouuuch! Skye shouts

Oh no! Aid! Skye! Are you guys alright? Roader asks

I'm fine Roader. Said Skye

Yeah, me too. Fortunately it was only a volleyball, not a medicine ball. Aid says

Heheh. It's cool Woader. It was only an accident. Says Zuma

Accident. Right. Roader says while frowning once more. Hey, I'll ask Marshall to come play with you guys. I need a break. Roader said

He goes to ask Marshall if he wants to play volleyball with Skye, Aid, and Zuma. Then he walks to his pup house.

Is he going to be ok? Asked Zuma

I hope so. Skye answered

Roader slumps head first into his pup house. He was very sad.

First I hurt Herbie even more than how he felt to start with, then I ruin Rubble and Chase's fun by tossing the frisbee they wer playing with up into a tree, after that, I get Rocky all wet, and now I hurt Aid and Skye. Roader states in a sorrowful tone.

Maybe they'd be better off without a pup who either hurts them, or ruins their day. Said Roader

Roader walks away to get his pup pack. He then head s to the front of the lookout.

*bark* Motor scooter. Roader sadly drives away on his scooter without looking back. As he drove away, Roader shed one tear before speeding up. No pup noticed his absence.

Ten minutes later, Roader drove into the forest, the same one Marshall went to when he left the PAW Patrol. He noticed a very small cavern.

I guess I'l have to call that my new home. He quietly said to himself.

Roader didn't bring any food, water, not even his tow truck. But this was his intention. He didn't feel like he deserved any of that stuff. He went inside the cavern.

*sigh* I hope they do missions better without me. Said Roader

After a little while, he fell asleep. But back at the lookout, the other pups were wondering where Roader went.

Chase and Rubble rushed over to Skye, Marshall, Zuma, and Aid.

Hey you guys. Have any of you seen Roader lately? Asked Chase

No. Not after he went to get me to play volleyball with Zuma, Skye, and Aid. Answered Marshall

That's weird. Where do you think he went off to? Wondered Chase

You know, he was awful depressed after he accidentally hit me and Skye with the ball. Said Aid

Yeah, he looked rather down. Added Skye

He did look sad when he tossed the frisbee me and Chase were playing with up a tree. Rubble said

And he got me wet by mistake, but despite my ok, he was very upset. Said Rocky who was walking up to them.

Not to mention he hurt me even more. But I was fine, even though I was also in pain. Said Herbie who also was walking up to the group.

You think he got too upset because he made those mistakes? Asked Zuma

Maybe. Said Chase

Too upset to the point of.........running away? Herbie asked hoping that wasn't the case.

I did do that once. Said Marshall. Maybe he did the same.

Oh no! Why would he choose to run away? Asked Skye

He must feel dweadful for causing so many accidents. Said Zuma

But that doesn't mean he should run away! Exclaimed Rocky

What should we do? Asked Aid

We gotta go find him! Said Chase

Yeah. Ryder is out and about, so we'll have to find him ourselves. Said Herbie

Ok. We'll all look together. He couldn't have gone that far. Said Skye

Chase, you lead the way. We'll have a greater chance at finding him if you can pick up his scent. Said Aid

Alright! Follow me everyone! Said Chase as he lead the group of pups to find Roader.

Meanwhile, back in the forest, Roader had just woken up from his slumber.

*yawn* That sure was a nice nap. He said. But it wasn't the most comfortable one. *sigh* I remember how I love to lay on Aid. His fur is so soft, and he's so nice to let me lay on it. Roader says.

Roader then starts to look for a nice plac to get a drink. H efound a nearby pond.

I am rather thirsty. I'll take a few gulps then do, whatever else I can do.....I guess. He said

Elsewhere, the pups were still looking for Roader. They first look around the beach.

No sign of him anywhere. Said Rubble

Let's look a little longer, maybe he's really hidden somewhere. Said Herbie

Chase was sniffing the ground for any scent of Roader that may be lingeering nearby.

Hmmmm, nothing. Chase confirmed. He's not here guys, we'll have to look somewhere else. He said

Alright, but I hope he didn't go too far from the lookout. Said Rubble

Oh Roader. Where'd you go. Marshall wondered

The pups search all around town, but no sign of Roader.

Skye checked Mr. Porter's cafe.

Oh, hey Skye! Said Mr. Porter who was walking out with some lemonade.

Hi Mr. Porter! Have you seen Roader anywhere today? Asked Skye

Hmmm, nope. Don't remember seeing him anytime throught the day. Mr. Porter answered

Oh well. Thanks anyway Mr. Porter. Said Skye as she heads off.

No problem Skye. Said Mr. Porter. Hmmm, I wonder why she wanted to know where Roader is. He said to himself.

Herbie and Rubble checked inside a building. It was old and dusty.

You think Roader hid in here? Asked Rubble pointing to a small pantry.

Let's check! Said Herbie

They stick their heads inside and look around for a while. They didn't find Roader, but they each found something else.

Aaaaaaahhh! Shouted Rubble

Aaaaaaaack! Screamed Herbie

They both slowly crawl back out of the pantry at the same time. Rubble found a spider instead, while Herbie found a roach. Then they both shake off their multi-legged critters.

*shudder* Spider cooties! Rubble shivered

Yeesh! Creepy crawler! Herbie shuddered

They continue looking elsewhere. Meanwhile, Aid and Marshall were looking for Roader at the pup park.

Roaderrrr! Marshall called

Are you out here somewhere? Called Aid

Marshall went up to the slide and looked down the tube.

Hey Roader! Are you in here? He shouted

Aid was walking past the other end.

Where could he be? He said

Roader? Marshall called out while looking deeper into the slide.

But Marshall looked too deep, and fell right inside.

Wh-whoa whoaaa! He exclaims as he goes down the slide.

Huh? Aid says as Marhall comes out the slide and crashes into Aid.

Oooof! Sputtered Aid

Heheh, sorry Aid. Said Marshall

*giggle* That's alright Marshall. I guess my soft fur can make a great slide pad. Joked Aid

Marshall laugher. *sigh* You now how Roader is usually one to make up jokes? Said Marshall

Yeah, I love his jokes, they always made me laugh. Said Aid as he frowns.

Well, the sooner we find him, the sooner we can hear those jokes again. Said Marshall

Aid smiled. You're right! Let's go find our funny friend! Said Aid

While all the pups continued their search for Roader, the irish wolfhound was looking for something to eat.

Hmmm, I wonder if there are any berries out here. Thought Roader

He looked around the forest hoping to get a least a bite to eat, but to no avail, his search was turning out to be fruitless.

*sigh* Now I wish I at least brought some kibble to eat. Roader sighed

His stomach started to growl. He wanted to find something to eat as soon as possible.

Ooohhhhh. I feeling very hungry. What was I thinking? I could've at least brought food if I'm going to be living out here. Roader said to himself.

Then, he spotted a thorny bush with purple berries on it.

*gasp* At last! I found some food! Roader said

He walked up to the bush, but he had to be careful of the thorns.

Just maybe fiiiive berries. He says as he reaches for two.

Unfortunately, he got pricked by one of the thorns.

Oww! He jumped. *whimper* I've got to be more careful!

He reaches for the two berries again, and is successful at not getting pricked this time.

Haaaaaaa, two down, three to go! Roader says as he goes around the bush and reaches for another berry.

He manages to get one more. Now he only needed two more. But the easiest ones to reach were surrounded by thorns.

Oh dear. Roader sighed. These are the only ones I can reach properly.

He reaches for the berries, but gets pricked once trying to grab them, and a second time trying to pull his arm back.

Owowowow! He exclaimed. Ohh, how will I get those without getting poked by these thorns? He wondered. Maybe I'll just settle with three.

But his stomach grumbled loudly again, as if to say "I need more than that Roader."

*sigh* Let me try again. Roader said while reaching for the berries again.

He got pricked twice going in, and twice going out. But he managed to get the berries this time.

Ouch! Ow ow ow! *groan* Those thorns really hurt, but at least I got my...uh....meal. Roader said

He then walks away back to his cavern with the berries on his back. Roader was limping a little from the thorn pricks.

Meanwhile, the other pups were still on their search. They eventually meet up at the railroad crossing.

I couldn't find Woader anywhere. Said Zuma

Me neither. Said Skye. He must be somewhere else.

I hope we find him soon. Said Aid. It's gonna be dark sometime soon.

We'll find him before dark. Chase affirmed

Alright then. Where should we look next? Asked Rocky

Hmmmm, maybe the forest? Suggested Marshall

That would be a place where someone would wun away to. Said Zuma

Like you did Marshall. Said Rubble

Marshall blushed. Heheh, yeah. I remember that. He says a little embarrassingly while scratching the back of his head.

Come on! Let's go! Chase said

We've gotta find him. He's our friend! Said Herbie

Then all the pups headed for the forest while howling. They were a team that's going to find their friend.

While they were heading to the forest. Roader had just finished eating his berries.

Hmm, those were a little sour, but not bad. He said

Then, all of a sudden, his stomach growled very loudly. But this wasn't from hunger.

That's funny, I thought I had a good enough snack. Roader said

His stomach growled again and Roader felt pain in that area.

Oooohhhhh. My belly hurts! Bad! He moaned

He started to hold it in pain. Next thing he knew, he was on his back.

Mmmmmmm, oooohhhhhh. It reaaaaaaly hurts! He groaned. Maybe those berries weren't edible.

Roader was squirming in pain. He couldn't bear to stand up or even move from his spot. All he could do was lay there and cope with his stomach ache.

Meanwhile the other pups were search for Roader in the forest.

Roader! Called Aid

Where are youuu! Shouted Marshall

Where'd you go?! Yelled Zuma

Then, Chase picked up something.

Hey! I've picked up a scent! He said

Really?! What di you find? Asked Skye

Chase took a couple more sniffs.

It smells like....*sniff*....fur! He said. Irish wolfhound fur!

That's what Roader is! Said Rocky

He must be here somewhere. Said Rubble

Lead the way Chase! Roader is close. I know he is. Said Aid

Chase nodded and then lead the pups to where Roader might be.

Elsewhere in the forest, Roader was still in pain. He felt a little faint.

Hmmm. I don't feel so good. He moaned as his stomach growled again.

Awww, I......just......need........some.............rest....awww. He said as his stomach growled loudly.

Roader then passes out. Five minutes later, he could hear voices.

Roader! Roader! Called a voice faintly.

Roader barely wakes up. Who's....there? He says weakly.

Roader! Roaderrrrr! The voice called again. It sounded a lot like Chase's.

Ch-Ch-Chase? Roader says before passing out again.

Roader! There you are! Said Chase as he spots him.

Herbie had followed Chase close behind. *gasp* It's Roader! Look you guys! He said while pointing at the fainted irish wolfhound.

There he is! Said Skye happily.

Roader! Said Marshall, Aid, Rubble, Zuma, and Rocky.

Oooohhhhh. Roader moaned while sleeping.

Uh oh! He doesn't look so good. Said Chase

Aid spotted some berry leaves on the ground next to Roader.

Oh noo! He said nervously.

What is it dude? Asked Zuma

Roader must've eaten some hillo berries. Sai Aid

What are those? Asked Herbie

Hillo berries are poisonous berries. They are especially poisonous to dogs. They can make one very cramped in the belly, feel faint, and worse. Aid explained

How....worse? Skye asked

It can eventually lead up to permanent loss of eyesight, loss of your sense of smell, and the lack of proper....*gulp*.......breathing. Aid says with fear.

Oh no! We have to help him! Skye exclaimed

Can you help him Aid? Asked Rubble

I would, there's a medicine that can heal him, but I don't have my pup pack. So, no first aid kit. Aid said

Roader is already fainting. Said Rubble. So how long before the last of the effects?

He's got about twenty minutes. But I can't run back the lookout in time. Aid says

Maybe you can make it after all. Rocky said while pointing his head to Roader's pup pack. Aid knew what Rocky meant.

Oh nononono! I'm not riding his scooter! Aid protests

Come on Aid. This is the quickest way you can get your pup pack. Said Chase

But but but but, I don't like going fast. Aid said

Aid, Roader needs you. And if you don't face your fear, WE fear that Roader won't be the Roader he was before. Herbie said

Aid looked at Marshall, Rubble, Rocky, Chase, Skye, and Zuma whi all gave him a pleading look. He then turns to the near motionless Roader.

*sigh* Get me the pup pack. He said with his head turned down and his tail lowered.

The other pups smiled. Rocky removes Roader's pup pack from him and puts it on Aid.

*gulp, bark* S-s-scooter. The motor scooter comes out, and Aid readies to ride it.

You can do it Aid! Said Skye

You're Woader's only hope dude! Zuma encouraged

Go and get your pup pack so you can save your friend. Said Rocky

Aid gains a more brave look, and starts the scooter. He speeds off to the lookout.

Whoooooaaaaaaa! Too fast! Too fast! Too fast! Too fast. Aid exclaims as he zips toward the road and back to the lookout.

When he gets there, he's relieved to get off Roader's scooter.

I.....never....want...to do that.......again! He said. *sigh* But I'll have to because I gotta go back. He stated while facing the ground.

Aid snaps out of his worried self, and retrieves his pup pack. And then, with another gulp, he starts Roader's scooter up again and speeds back to the forest.

The other pups wait patiently for Aid's return. He eventuallydarts back to the group.

Aid! They all shout in relief.

Aid gets off the scooter and and slumps to the ground.

Aid? Are ou ok? Asked Chase

Juuuuuuust fine. Aid said without looking at Chase.

Well, I'm glad you are, but Roader still isn't. Chase informed

Huh? Oh! Right! Aid said before getting his pup pack on and rushing over to his sick friend.

*bark* First aid kit! Aid then has the robotic hands pull out the medicine bottle.

Aid takes off the lid and puts a few drops into Roader's mouth. He then lifts Roader's head to make him swallow.

Roader lays lifeless for a few moments. The other pups look at him, hoping that when he wakes up, his senses are still intact.

Roader then starts to mumble a little, and then wakes up completely.

Oohhhhhhhhh. What happened? Roader asked in a daze.

Roader! You're ok! Aid says as he hugs the dizzy pup.

Oh Roader! I'm glad you safe! Said Herbie

Uuuuhhhhh, what just happened? Road asked again.

Roader, did you swallow some purple berries from a thorny bush? Asked Aid

Umm yeah. Why? Roader asked

Because those berries, known as Hillo berries, are very poisonous to dogs. You would've lost your eyesight, your hearing, and your ability to breath easily. Aid explained

Ohhh dear. That would've been bad. Said Roader

Yeah, it would've been. Agreed Aid

But your paramedic pup friend here saved you Roader! Said Marshall

Yeah, Aid's your hero! Said Skye

Roader looks at Aid with a smile. Thanks buddy. He said

You're welcome Roader. Aid replied

But, you all mustn't be that thrilled to see me, or that I'm ok. Roader says while frowning.

Why would say that? Asked Rocky

Because I got you wet, I smacked Skye and Aid with a volleyball, I ruined Chase and Rubble's game of frisbee, and I made Herbie's pain worse. Roader said. *sigh* You guys probably shouldn't even see me again.

Oh Roader, we all make a mistake every now and then. Said Marshall

And we can learn from them dude. Added Zuma

Yeah, just make sure you look where your going when running. Said Herbie

Be sure to avoid trees when playing frisbee. Put in Chase.

And make sure the anyone else playing has a good chance at reaching it. Said Rubble

Pay attention to what's happening before you act. Added Rocky

And aim away from other players when spiking a volleyball. Finished Aid

After all, that is what you want to do in that game. Skye said

Roader smiled. You're right. I was just so focused on my incidents, that I didn't even think about how I can make them right. Roader said

And you are our friend, so mistakes can be forgotten for sure. Said Aid

Roader walks up to him and hugs him. Aid continues it. And then the rest of the pups join in on the hug.

Sorry I ran away. Said Roader

Heh, that mistake, forget about it. It's long gone. Aid says while smiling.

Whaddya guys say we head back to the lookout? Said Chase. It's about to get dark.

Suwe dude! Let's go everyone! Said Zuma

Alright! Said Roader happily.

You wanna play some volleyball with all of us when we get back? Asked Skye

Yeah! Come on Roader! It will be fun! Said Rubble

And I'll stand by in case something else may happen. Said Aid

Roader frowned. *sigh* Why should I? I'll just hurt someone else again. Maybe......even everybody else. Roader says before he started whimpering.

Roader, no one will get hurt this time. Said Rocky

And Aid will treat them if they do. Added Chase

Plus, you aren't the only one who could accidentally hurt someone. Said Herbie

Come on Roader. Please stop beating yourself up. Said Marshall

Aid pats Roader on the back before Roader started smiling.

Gotcha! He said before giggling.

Oh. Aid said. Then he started to giggle. And then started to laugh.

The other pups started laughing as well.

That's our Roader! Said Rubble

He's always coming up with jokes. Said Zuma

Haha! Sure! I'd love to play some volleyball! Roader said

Great! Then let's go back to the lookout. Said Chase

And after a long loud howl, all the pups started walking back toward the lookout. And Roader left with the biggest smile out of all the pups.
