So I’ve been talking about this for a while but it’s finally time! Vivid Publishing is running a Kickstarter to publish my graphic novel, Firebrat: The True Meaning of Christmas. It’s my loving homage to the ridiculously cheesy Christmas specials of the late 80s/early 90s, about a group of kids who chosen to visit Santa Claus at the North Pole on Christmas Eve…. but it turns out to be a terrible journey into the dark depths of holiday madness. Also monsters! Lots of monsters from Christmas myth and legend!

I never liked how all those old Christmas specials badgered you about how important it was to believe in the unknowable mystery of the Christmas season… like, literally, every Christmas special that wasn’t just a rehash of gift of the magi was about the importance of belief. So that was part of my inspiration for doing this story.

Also my wife is Jewish and she always complains abuot how Chanukah gets short-shrifted during the holiday season. So she kind of inspired me to try and create a goofy Christmas parody that even she could enjoy!

I’m really stoked about this, because, if we get enough pre-orders, it’s going to be in color! And the color is going to be super awesome, it looks just like an old Peanuts Christmas special.
