Not really friends in a sense. It will come up later that Coop was still pestering Andy even back at this time period because somewhere in Cooper's subconscious he's attracted to Andy, but he doesn't know how to respond to it with his actions so he pesters him and it carries over into adulthood.
I managed to read the ending somehow and I'm not sure if you saw it, Jack, but
SOMEONE DECIDED TO CREATE A TROLL PAGE FOR THE ENDING AND I ALMOST THOUGHT YOU ACTUALLY DREW IT BECAUSE THE STYLE WAS HORRIBLY CORRECT
I'm not going to spoil it first though, but heck, dude, you gotta see that 'alternate ending'.
