Continuing my latest "Throwback Thursday" on this current 'sweeps month' (November, 2017), I have one more Thanksgiving-related 'photo-op' pertaining to birds - that I recently saw at the Palm Beach Zoo at Dreher Park in West Palm Beach, Florida...
I couldn't think of a better way to end this series of 'photo-ops' by posting one of a pair of (grounded) American bald eagles - which, as many of you know, was declared our country's 'national bird'.
Of course, according to legend, inventor Benjamin Franklin actually wanted to declare the turkey as America's 'national bird' - which, in turn, would put an ironic damper on the annual holiday. Can you imagine your family, gathered around the dinner table, for a feast of 'roast eagle'?! (Or, if you really want to get esoteric, stuff this bird with a duck and hen, for a feast of 'roast eaglucken'?!)
Anyway, I got to see these two eagles in their caged enclosure, and took a picture of them through the fence. They weren't even phased by my presence... but they were thankful to be away from people, altogether!
And, to all of you in "Fur Affinity", I wish you, your friends, and your families a very happy and respectful Thanksgiving!
If any of you plan to visit south Florida in the near future, go to https://www.palmbeachzoo.org for more information about this unique place.
I'll return next "Throwback Thursday" with even more incredible pictures I took at the Palm Beach Zoo on my final week of 'sweeps month'.
