Art saw Daniel as he pulled into the parking lot at the gym. The deer was dressed in a robin's egg blue long sleeved shirt and beige cargo shorts. An odd combination in Art's opinion, but he never understood why some would wear socks with sandals either.
"Hey Art," Daniel said, his eyes downcast. Even though they'd become friends and Daniel was larger than the lion by a substantial amount, he still carried his shyness about him like a trenchcoat. Maybe it was an unconscious defense mechanism from before he was bulky. Art didn't know.
Art pulled the gym bag out of his trunk and flashed Daniel a grin. "Hey there, Daniel. Are you ready to beat me into shape?"
Daniel winced. The deer was a pacifist to the point where even a joke about violent behavior bothered him. "I couldn't ever hurt you, Art. You're like one of my only pals here." He then made eye contact with the lion, a shy smile on his muzzle. "Of course, I could make more friends."
"Brute. If I want witty banter I'll watch something with Hugh Laurie."
They made their way towards the gym, and before Art could step two paws inside a voice roared out so loudly behind the two it took three seconds for Art to realize the sound was his name. Then someone grabbed him from behind with two powerful arms crisscrossing his chest.
"Oof! Dammit, Charles! You're going for a double threat of deafening AND crushing me."
"Sorry, cub!" The grizzly bear put down Art, patting him on the head. As Art turned around Charles asked "Now can ya tell yer friend he don't gotta beat my skull in?"
Daniel was on the bear's back, and he had Charles in a headlock. Art was dumbstruck for a moment, as Daniel looked as if he were about to bite the bear!
"D-Daniel? It's okay, Charles is a friend."
As Daniel released Charles, the bear grinned, stretching out a paw. "Name's Charles, buck."
Daniel reverted to his shy self, barely looking at the bear, but taking his paw. "Daniel."
At least Art knew he was safe in Daniel's hands in case of a mugging!

You ever notice the really nice people get SUPER angry when the time comes. You can use this part of the story as an example if you want, but doesn't it seem like shy and or really nice people exploud less often but with greater intensity than other people,in RL situations too?
