Had a cat that did that. Picked him up in Alaska (stray, ~2 years old). He'd eat everything but the innards...but NEVER on the carpet. Always on the kitchen tiles. For that (easy clean up and free anatomy lesson) he always got a pass. While I lived in Fairbanks, I spent about $5 on cat food over 3 years. Max would find his own, thankyouverymuch.
