In modern times, Hives have taken to modern methods of recruitment. Online forums and communities, fliers, and even job fairs. They use all the tools at their disposal to try to educate the public and find new members.

Succubats are animals. They aren't really good or evil. They just want to keep the hives healthy, and keep the queen fed. They do this by pairing with smarter, stronger species, namely people, and leave all the work and decision making to hosts.
Hosts and Hives are just like, the same people, with an instilled empathy for other hosts.
Hives get food for their queen because the queen needs a lot, and can't do it by themself. If the hive didn't help the queen, they'd just starve, and probably burn out trying to make more parasites to find most hosts.

Those are both like, literally my examples every time someone asks about bat immunity.
Succubats, at least the ones I usually draw, require an organic host with a spine they can access. Interfacing with robotics would be an adaptation they haven't needed, since like, that wouldn't really let them access more hosts. There are bats in areas with high insectoid dense areas, who can interface without a spine.
A major problem with interfacing with slimes, is bats are still solid, and could just be like, easily pulled out, or even digested by the slime.

Parasites straight up merge with the host, Their tail is the host's tail, their wings are the host's buttwings, their mind is like a third lobe of your own mind. I'm trying to think even how this would happen. It would be akin to your arm living on without you.
Yes mutations happen. Slight variations in color are normal, Albinism and Melanism are rare, just like is any animal. Succubats also have occasional magical mutations, like stronger hosts, or acid resistance, or water breathing. Usually the problem with these mutations is if it doesn't help the hive succeed compared to normal mutations, you just have a hive that needs more resources for both the queen AND the succubats, with nothing helping them get that extra food.
"and perhaps experimented on queens." is a weird sentence fragment and not actually a question or statement. I can't reply to this

I don't know why, but the whole forced empathy bit just doesn't sit well with me. I know that lived experiences can change your opinion on something, but I feel that there's a difference between living an experience and having that empathy suddenly thrust upon you by an outside source. Am I missing something? Am I wrong to feel this way? Am I being rude just for posting this comment?
