Commissioned from SlightlySimian. Ella the orchid mantis has spent years training for her coming of age ceremony. During that time she fell in love with a member of a rival tribe of lizards, Silas. The two of them have visited each other in secret for years. Ella will become free to roam the plains of her own free will once she passes the last part of her trial. At that point, she plans on spending the rest of her life with Silas. To her dismay, the final trial is removing the head of a captured enemy. And it just so happens that Silas was captured while sneaking into the camp in an effort to wish her luck. The conductor hands her a sword and commands her to kill him. Silas looks at her, his body covered in sacrificial paint and his eyes filled with a mixture of love and sorrow. Ella stands frozen, she does not know what to do next.
