The Party
Sarah stood in front of her mirror, looking herself over. She had done a pretty decent job making herself up, she felt. The blue dress accentuated what curves she had, and the slit up one side showed off her leg. She had put on eyeshadow and blush -- both really a kind of temporary dye to tint the fur on her face -- that complemented the color of the dress and made her features pop.
After all, she wanted to look good if she was going to be hanging out with preds.
Not that that was a guarantee or anything. After all, predators made up less than five percent of the population. But at a big party like this, a welcome party for new freshmen, there were bound to be a few. At the very least, this would be the first time that Sarah would have the possibility of hanging out with or even, maybe, talking to a pred.
She understood the dangers, of course. She understood why her father had kept her so sheltered growing up, avoiding any circumstances where she might get remotely close to a pred. Sarah was tiny, even for a mouse. If a pred decided they wanted her, she wouldn't be able to stop them. But at a big, public party like this, there was no way anything was going to happen. And there would be plenty of opportunities to escape into a crowd if something did happen. She would be perfectly safe.
It was almost disappointing, really.
Anyway, why was she arguing this point with herself? Her father wasn't even in the same city as her anymore. She didn't have to explain herself to anyone.
Giving her reflection in the mirror a firm nod, she picked up her purse and left her dorm.
The party was crazier than Sarah had expected. The fraternity house hosting it was absolutely enormous, and the main room was filled to the brim with people. They came in all shapes and sizes, including, as Sarah had suspected, the occasional pred.
They were easy to spot: tall towers floating amidst the sea of furry bodies. Wolves, cats, and other carnivorous mammals towered over their friends. No one else seemed bothered by them -- they were drinking, chatting, and hanging out just like everyone else. Just more guests at the party.
So why was Sarah having such a hard time talking to one?
Well, she was struggling to talk to anyone, really. The crowded room had summoned her social anxiety at full force. She currently found herself huddling in a corner, by herself, watching the party pass her by.
She had hoped that things would be different. That coming to college would mean a chance to reinvent herself, a chance to not be... her anymore. She would talk to people, she would make friends, she would finally meet a predator. Obviously, that wasn't going to happen. Other parties would come along and present new opportunities, but she would still be Sarah, hiding in the corner and not talking to anyone.
Sarah blinked back tears. Great, now she was ruining her makeup, too. She brought up one arm to try to rub the tears from her eyes, hopefully before anyone noticed.
"Hey, nice party, right?"
Sarah practically jumped out of her fur. She hadn't even noticed the male canine approaching, but now he was leaning against the wall beside her, holding a drink in a red plastic cup.
Sarah sniffled, hoping he hadn't noticed her state. "Oh, um... yeah. It's great."
"Doesn't seem like you're having much fun, though," the canine said.
Sarah swallowed, then looked him over. The canine had a slim but fit build. He wore a t-shirt and jeans over his light tan fur, and he short, bright orange-red hair. She had never seen someone of his breed before -- a "corgi," if she remembered correctly? He was only a little taller than Sarah herself.
She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "I thought I'd come to the party to meet new people, but I haven't had much luck yet."
The corgi responded by shifting his drink to his left hand and turning his upper body so he could hold out his right. "Well, you've met me. I'm Rey."
Sarah smiled and shook the offered hand. "Sarah."
"Nice to meet you, Sarah," Rey said.
"Same." Sarah looked out over the party. "Now all I've got to do is meet a predator and I'll be set!"
Rey cocked his head to one side. "You want to meet a pred? A little mouse like you?"
Sarah felt her face flush. "Well, um... yeah. I never really got to see any growing up -- the idea always kind of fascinated me. I thought, you know, maybe now that I've moved out..." She trailed off.
Rey grinned and puffed out his chest. "Well, then you'll be happy to hear that you've already met one!"
Sarah turned to look at him again. "You? You're a pred?"
"Is that so hard to believe?"
"You're just... not what I was expecting."
Rey laughed. "It's true, though. I even came with a friend who can vouch for me. Ah! There!" He spotted someone amidst the crowd and raised one hand. "Tammi! Over here!"
A female chipmunk made her way through the party towards them. She wore jeans and a low-cut t-shirt over a slightly chubby frame -- or maybe she was just very fluffy. She staggered slightly as she approached, almost spilling some of her own drink. "Rey! What's up!"
"Tammi, you can vouch for me. Tell this mouse that I'm a pred."
Tammi smiled at Sarah. Her speech was slightly slurred -- she had obviously done quite a bit of drinking tonight. "Oh yeah. He's as much a pred as I am."
Sarah's eyes opened wide. "You're a pred, too?"
Tammi just laughed. "I get that reaction a lot! You'd be surprised. Big things come in small packages."
Sarah couldn't help but chuckle as well. All this time wanting to meet a pred, and now these two, barely bigger than her, both claimed to be one? "I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be mean," Sarah said. "I'm just... having trouble believing it."
Tammi's smile turned sly. "If you'd like, Rey could give you a demonstration."
Sarah felt her heart skip a beat. "What, here? Now?" Even if they were predators, they couldn't just... eat someone at a party, could they?
"Sure," Tammi said. "Big party like this, I bet we could find someone drunk enough to volunteer."
"I'm not sure that's a good idea, Tammi," Rey said.
"You are clearly way too sober," Tammi responded. She grabbed the arm holding Rey's drink and lifted it to his mouth. The action startled Rey, causing him to spill a bit of beer on his shirt, but then he found his footing and went along with it. Before Sarah's eyes, Rey chugged the remainder of his not-that-small cup.
When he finished, he let out a long breath and wiped his muzzle with his arm. "Alright, fine," he said. "You find me a meal, I'll do it."
"Wait!"
Tammi turned to look at Sarah. "What?"
"Are you... are you really serious?" Sarah asked.
"Sure am," Tammi said. "Have you changed your mind? Do you not want a demonstration?"
Sarah stared into Tammi's light blue eyes, and Tammi met her gaze without flinching. Sarah had no doubt she meant it. She took a deep breath.
"Yes, I do."
Tammi turned back to the party and raised her voice so it would carry over the party. "Your attention, please!"
Various nearby party-goers all stopped their conversations to look at them. Sarah resisted the urge to shrink back against the wall.
Tammi motioned towards Rey. "My friend here has had his credentials as a predator called into question! Would anyone like to volunteer to help him prove himself?"
A murmur ran through the crowd; it sounded like most of the party-goers doubted Rey the same way Sarah did. A male wolf stepped forward. "What, this little guy is a predator?"
Sarah swallowed hard as the wolf approached. Now this was the kind of predator she had been wanting to meet -- he was huge, with broad shoulders and a towering frame. He had his arms crossed in front of his chest as he leaned down to look at Rey.
"This little guy couldn't swallow a--"
The wolf's insult was cut off as Tammi walked around behind him, leaned her shoulder against his back, and shoved.
The wolf let out a yelp as he was pushed off balance, falling forward. Rey opened his mouth wide, and the wolf's entire head popped inside.
The crowd grew silent as the wolf, panicked, trying to pull himself back out. He feet scrabbled against the floor, and his arms flailed as he tried to get a grip on Rey.
But Rey had already begun to swallow. With a wet gulp, the wolf's head bulged out his throat, and his muzzle was wrapping around the wolf's wide shoulders. With surprising strength, Rey forced the wolf's arms to his side as he began to gulp down his wide chest.
Sarah's heart pounded against the inside of her ribcage. She was actually watching someone be eaten. Not as part of a movie or a book: it was really happening, right next to her!
Rey didn't waste any time. The wolf's waist was soon passing between the corgi's lips, followed by his kicking legs. Soon it was just his squirming toes sticking out, and then Rey's teeth clicked closed behind those. He tilted his head back and swallowed, and the wolf finished his trip into the smaller canine's gut. Rey's stomach bulged out, enormous, causing his shirt to bunch up around his chest.
He opened his mouth and released a belch.
Sarah stared at Rey's belly, trying to process what she had just seen. That wolf -- that predator -- was inside that thrashing bulge. She glanced at the crowd of party-goers. They all looked just as stunned as she did. She wondered what would happen next, until someone in the crowd shouted.
"That was awesome!"
A number of other party-goers cheered, and they crowded closer. Several put their hands out to touch his squirming belly. "That was amazing!" "I can't believe you got him down!" "Are you feeling sick? Can you keep him in there?"
Tammi just laughed. "Of course he can keep him down! Heck, I bet he's still got plenty of room. Right, Rey?"
Rey shrugged. "Well, probably, yeah."
"No way." A curvy female rabbit stepped out of the crowd. She poked Rey's belly. "No way you've got more room after that."
"Oh, I definitely do," Rey said.
"Especially with a few more drinks to loosen him up," Tammi added, grabbing a drink from a nearby party-goer (who seemed to stunned to complain) and handing it to Rey.
"Whatever," The rabbit said. She held out one hand to Rey. "If you're so sure of yourself, try to fit me in there."
Rey looked at her for a moment. Then he downed the drink, tossed the cup away, grabbed the rabbit's hand, and stuffed it into his mouth.
"Whoa!" The rabbit shouted as she was pulled off balance. "You can't... mmph!"
Her complaint was muffled as Rey swallowed her head. He took even less time swallowing her than he had the wolf. He quickly gulped down her chest and only had to pause for a moment at her wide hips. Then he slurped her legs into his gullet and she was gone, the bulge of his stomach swelling out further.
Rey hiccuped. "See? I've still got space. Give me all you got."
The tipsy party-goers seemed even more excited at his boast. "How many do you think he'll be able to fit?" "This is crazy." "Ooh, me next!"
"Hey!" Tammi said. "If this is turning into a contest, I want in!" She grabbed a nearby squirrel, a small female that had been trying to volunteer herself, and shoved her into her mouth.
Unlike Rey, who had swallowed both of his prey in a quick, smooth motion, Tammi seemed to actually be forcing the surprised squirrel bodily between her lips. After a few seconds, Tammi was slurping up the bushy tail into a gigantic bulge in her cheek. Then she tilted her head back and swallowed, sending the lump down to her belly in one go.
Tammi patted her belly. "See, no way you'll out-eat me," she said.
Rey, however, was already grabbing another party guest. "Yeah, well, I've got the head start!"
Everything erupted into chaos after that. Guest after guest disappeared into Tammi and Rey's gullets, their bellies growing larger and larger. Many of them climbed in willingly, while others were pushed in by their friends. Occasionally, a party-goer would hand Tammi or Rey another drink, which they would down quickly before moving on to the next meal. Body after body disappeared into the two predators as Tammi and Rey slurped up mice, rabbits, squirrels, cats, wolves, anyone who got close enough.
Sarah had her back against the wall, watching the spectacle. A warmth had begun to grow in her lower belly and had gradually spread throughout her body. She felt flushed, and her breath came in ragged. How could they possibly still be eating? Their bellies had become furry mountains, and yet they were showing no signs of slowing down.
Tammi had just finished slurping up a striped feline tail when there was a lull in the crowd -- Rey was currently swallowing a large female cow, and most of the party-goers were focused on that. Tammi took advantage of the momentary respite to turn to Sarah. "So, are you enjoying your... hic... demonstration?"
Sarah swallowed. "Y-yeah. I am."
"I thought so," Tammi said. "C'mere."
Sarah hesitated, but approached. Tammi's stomach was a huge, furry mass in front of her, and Sarah could hear shouts and voices from inside.
"What do you say," Tammi said. "You want to join them?"
"I... um..."
"That's why you wanted to meet a predator, right?" Tammi said. "You'd never admit it to yourself, but you were kind of hoping one of them would stuff you in their mouth. You wanted to know what it'd feel like."
Sarah didn't say anything.
"Well, now's your chance," Tammi said. "My mouth is open." And, indeed, she let her mouth gape open wide.
Sarah stared into it. "If... if I... would you let me out afterwards?"
"Dunno," Tammi said. "That's the risk you'd be taking. But I've been wanting you in me since I first saw you, cutie. Your choice."
Sarah's face flushed. Tammi had wanted her? Like, had actually been craving her?
"O-okay," Sarah said. "I'll do it."
"I thought you might. Better hurry, the crowd's gonna be coming back soon." She gestured at Rey, who was in the midst of gulping down the cow's large thighs. Then she opened her mouth wide.
Sarah hesitated, then reached behind herself and unzipped her dress, shrugging it off her shoulders and letting it fall to the floor. She fought down any embarrassment -- what did it matter at this point, anyway? And no sense letting the dress get ruined. Then she stepped up to Tammi, leaning in towards her open mouth.
Tammi's warm breath washed over her face, the strong smell of beer and numerous other combined scents making her nose wrinkle. Before she had a chance to change her mind, Tammi put her hand on the back of Sarah's head.
"Good girl. Enjoy your front-row seat."
Then she pushed Sarah forward, forcing her mouth into the chipmunk's wet, dark maw.
Rey sat in the small coffee shop, one hand massaging his temple. The shop was mostly empty; the only sustained noise was a small TV set up against a wall nearby, currently showing the news.
The bell over the door jingled, indicating the entrance of another customer. Rey didn't look up as he heard a familiar voice place an order, before footsteps approached the table and sat down across from him.
"Good morning, Rey," Tammi said.
"Not so loud," Rey complained.
Tammi chuckled. "I hear ya. So, you wanted to meet me here?"
"Yeah." Rey looked at Tammi. "Do you remember... anything from last night?"
Tammi shook her head and took a sip from her coffee. "Not really, except I seem to have gone up a couple dress sizes."
"Yeah, no kidding," Rey said, patting his stomach, which was significantly pudgier than he last remembered it. "I know we were going to hang out, we were talking about different places we could go -- and then I've totally blacked out the rest of it. We really need to stop drinking so much."
"Probably my fault. You know how I like to egg people on. I do have one possible hint. This gal look familiar?"
Tammi hooked a finger into the side of her lips and pulled. Her mouth stretched, revealing the interior of her cheek pouch, where Rey could see the face of an unconscious female mouse.
"Maybe," Rey said. "Vaguely. Do you know who she is?"
Tammi released her lip, and her cheek snapped back into place. "No idea," Tammi said. "I woke up with her in my cheek. I'm sure I haven't met her before yesterday."
"You wanna wait until she wakes up and ask her about what happened last night?"
Tammi shook her head. "Nah. Too much trouble. Probably better we don't know, anyway. Unless you've got any objections, I'll probably just have her for lunch today."
Rey waved his hand submissively. "Sounds good. Anyway, thanks for hanging out with me last night. We should do it again soon; maybe we'll even remember it next time."
Tammi smiled. "Yeah, maybe."
The barista, a female squirrel, watched as the chipmunk and the corgi left the shop. When no one else entered right away, she picked up a towel and got to work cleaning the table they had used, and took advantage of the quiet moment to watch a bit of the news while she worked.
A male dog news anchor sat at his desk, reading the current report. "Authorities are still investigating the mysterious disappearances last night. An entire welcome party at the local campus has completely vanished, totaling around seventy-four individuals. Only a few scraps of clothing were found. Investigators find it similar in nature to an act of predation, except for the enormous scope of it. The current theory is that a large gang of predators may have attacked the party all at once."
The barista shook her head. That was the kind of thing that happened when you started hanging out with preds.

First thought: With as drunk and voracious as they were, I'm surprised they were able to keep their maws off each other.
Second thought: I guess we have an answer to the question asked by moms everywhere - "If all your friends jumped into a hungry predator's maw, would you too?"
(Thought unrelated to story: Goodness, sorry to hear you've been having a tough month! Glad you got through a car accident mostly intact, I hope you feel better soon!)

1st: You're right, that is kind of a surprise!
2nd: "Everyone else was doing it, I just wanted to be popular."
(Thank you! Fortunately my injuries are not that bad and could have been a lot worse -- just some separated ribs, not anything broken. Luckily I was wearing my seat belt! And no one else was hurt, either.)
