I was just talking with a friend about gray foxes earlier today. She had just mounted her first pelt, a gray fox!

I really love how you captured the face of the species. Not the same structure as a red fox, slightly more cat-like. I can't wait to see more of her!

The coloring of the gray is such fun to work with and I'm taking my time with her. She original was going to have some tribal clothing but realized that it would cover much of her beautiful coloring so just went with accessories.

I've made a lot of changes since yesterday. Mostly body proportions which were way off. Compare her arm to the piece you saw. I got issues with my drawing set up, drawing flat really screws with perspective.

Is she a shaman?

I had thought to call her a shaman or medicine woman but I will leave that to the viewer to apply labels.

"Shaman" is just so overused.

Polychromos are a bit more expensive but they definitely last longer than other brands (which I have used), so the price about equals out. If you're in the states, order on line from Blick.

Oh I see, but when it comes to quality we really can't save much I think ^^;. Are they more soft or hard pencils? I currently have a set of Prismacolors that are super soft but don't work exactly for what I want, and they go away pretty fast considering that you have to keep sharpening em all the time =P. My idea is to work with pencils along with acrylic or watercolor paint for fine details, specially fur =).

She does have sort of a hard expression. Like she's watching squirrels getting into the bird feeder, again.

Well, I'm going to change her expression a bit so to reflect her mood after the anti squirrel incendiary devises she installed, have done their job.

Dang, couldn't find a flaming squirrel emoji.

Good! Flaming Squirrel is not welcome in our tribe. He burns all the marshmallows

But he's so toasty to keep in the fire circle at the end of the day!
