Samantha is the team mage on the Warrior Ways, Mystic Methods team. She was taught as an apprentice to an established wizard rather than attend a mage academy. Academy trained mages tend to look down on "rogue" mages. An academy wizard has a wand issued by their school. As far as Samantha is concerned the only difference between her and an academy mage is "a bit of stick"
