When the municipality of Bordeaux agreed to share their land with Kuru's empire, it didn't last long before the city went under total control of their new alien overlords. Thankfully the takeover went peacefully and the inhabitants quickly learnt to live under Umbra ruling.
Then you have Jacques & Jack. Having their hometown covered with red banners, minimalistic architecture and surveillance blimps isn't something they're fond of. Now these two little humans know for sure they can't overthrow the empire, but that doesn't mean they can't take advantage of the alien presence and technology to make a quick buck and live free of Kuru's reign.
