Hey guys, third time's the charm right? Went went with a little different version this time for a newer approach.
Let's get to it.
Romeo y Julieta 1875:
Wrapper: Indonesian
Binder: Dominican
Filler: Dominican
Pre-Light/Construction:
From the first at the box, there was a bit more of a refinement look to the sticks all neatly in a row. The tradtional style of the Reserva Reall label on the band made it's mark, but was added with the golden year of 1875 made it a little more exclusive. Sort of giving a little more traditional overall look. The wrapper was a decent light brown color and the band gave it more depth. A bit dry to the touch, but the light gave it a little more shimmer. A bit bumpy and toothy in a appearance but the veins and seems look nearly invisible. The pre-draw from the slice was nice a loose. Looks like a nice draw for the burn.
The Burn Part 1:
Alot of natural tobacco notes began it off. Some little traces of cedar came afterwards. Tasted like I was in the great outdoors once again on a nice sunny day. A little bit of cream notes soon followed. More richer than other creamy notes. Surprisingly no pepper at this point. Gave it a little more of a relaxed taste without the intense pepper notes I usually start out with. Soon the 1st third went away do to the nice and loose draw. Alot of smoke still.
The Burn Part 2:
Soon the pepper makes it's first appearance and it's got a little bite to it. Mid to High Black Pepper mainly from what I'm tasting. Was a bit of a surprise honestly. The cedar notes at this point were only traces from the retro hale. The cream notes stayed in the same level of richness as well. The outdoor taste I felt from the first 3rd sort of changed to a more late afternoon. Mellowing a bit more than the previous spike. The pepper notes started to calm down a bit. At this point, the stick was at it's prime in medium body.
The Burn Final:
The Creamy notes started to get a little richer but fade a little bit. The natural tobacco notes dwindled a bit as well. As of the other notes, they have stayed at the same rate. Still mellow. Still natural taste, I was really relaxed a this point. The last note to win the race was the creamy notes. With that, I put it in the the ashtray grave.
Verdict:
For something like this, I was a bit ashamed to overlook this particular little stick for it simplistic characteristics. Mellow, natural, and simply relaxing. Grab yourself a couple of these mellow yellows.
