this fella is named Frer and he is one of the last of his species, an anthro bat tribe called, clan of the nightshadow.
He is just like an ordinary teenager and the youngest among Fafnir´s crew. So he sometimes is still imature and hard to come along with.
Before joining the pirates he was a common thief on the streets of a small port town at the shores of the sea.
To avoid being thrown into jail he hid on Fafnir´s ship and was discovered when the ship allready left the port.
So he became the ship boy and had to do various minor jobs, and found a home.
Still he wants to learn more about his ancestors who had something to do with the lost eara of magic and the ruins that Rex, the dino pirate from a previous pic^^, is up to discover.

he and his backgroundstory is involved in the interesting past of this world, where things went different in history from our real world, although one could say that it takes place on the same planete earth with almost the same basic history that reached up to the 18th century by now in this case, but has some additional aeras
With Frer being so young and amongst the last of his species, I wonder if he'd have many memories of his family, though being alone on the streets as a common thief I imagine he's had to fend for himself for a young age. That he's an ordinary teenager, maybe a brat sometimes but not weighed down by tragedy is fortunate, and with a home amongst Fafnir's crew and being the youngest, even if he's annoying sometimes I'm sure there are those looking on him as younger brother or son, probably son in some cases even if that's not always admitted to. With that face, and expression I think he's the sort that would be hard to stay angry with, though I also imagine it's got him into a few situations where he's ended up tied up as well, especially if he's got a smart mouth on him.
Cute though he is, I think it would offend his dignity and he's got an impressive set of teeth on him, so probably not afraid to use them either. Here I could see someone deciding to gag him after maybe one to many clever remarks and he's making ready to use them. Though facing the gallows with the rest of the crew and no mercy given consideration even with his young age, you couldn't really blame him.
As well as being cute, he's a very interesting character not least with the mystery in his background, and that key around his neck I'm sure has some significance to it.
