One of a kind Auction! Aragonite dragon
Edit** Now flat price. $100
If you follow me on DA or tumblr, you know I love collecting rocks and minerals as much as I love dragons...so here's a combo of the two! Also this is where my art direction has gone. I still draw cartoons, but I really like going for a more realistic look.
About this design:
This is a one of a kind "Mineral Dragon" that incorporates the crystal structure, colors, and special properties of the real mineral it's based on. The Mineral Aragonite is commonly seen as balls of crystal twinnings that are either rusty-red/brown or clear/colorless, but will also grow to closely resemble coral, forming into delicate white or blue blades or twisted, spikey branches. Aragonite will sometimes fluorece under UV light. Veins of aragonite found near Long Lake in Ontario Canada will flourece electric blue and these specimens are aptly named "Aragonite lightning bolts". I tried to incorporate every crystal structure, color, and unique property of the mineral into this dragon...though I stretched the "lightning bolt" property into literal lightning XD The only other property I didn't include was double refraction (Aragonite is basically calcite and clear specimens will behave the same way), but I'm saving that property for the Calcite Mineral Dragon
The real aragonite photo is my own. I take HD photos of my fine mineral specimens.
