She is a mother.

Of this fact she is quite aware. It is not her first litter, but no batch of cubs are ever the same. These two are resilient, for their age, but not invincible. They are tiny, so small, and it will be a matter of years before they are as big as she is.

Their pelts are not developed. They have only their basic colors, no markings, but those will come in later times. She had not named them- for who is to say they will make it past their first six months? If they manage it, she will give them names, and if she does not, there will have been nothing wasted.

They are weak and small, in a world of strong dangers. Many creatures would have no problem crunching their tiny bones with one bite. But if they wish to harm her babies, they will go through her first.

And she is no idle threat.
