Hey guys, it's a brand new month and it's high time I give another go to the Perdomo blend again. After the event with John in December, we had another discussion on reviews, and deliberation led me to doing another review month for it, since I haven't covered everything as of yet. It's about time that changes this month since there are still some great blends to cover. Let's get to it!
Perdomo Habano Maduro:
Wrapper: Nicaragua Maduro
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Pre-Light/Construction:
From the appearance the was alot of boldness in the look. From the dark wrapper, to the shiny band, it was like a shiny button on the dashboard you were dying to press to light the fire. The wrapper itself, dark as sin it was, was a bit rough to the touch. Some toothiness while a little bit oily giving it a little shine. The band itself as shiny as it was, the color seemed just a little off as far as the golden hay color was on there. Still the shine was more than apparent in appearance. The feel from holding it was comfortable. The scent was very high in pepper notes. The seems and veins were visible at most, but they held their own and stability. The pre-draw after the slice was nice and smooth. Not too loose and not too tight. Just right IMO.
The Burn Part 1:
The first few puffs were very vibrant with cedar and semi sweet mocha notes. Alot of smoke was puffed out, so the draw was pleasant and just right. IT tasted like a sweet treat that was enticing me like some sweet seductress drawing me closer to my demise. Seductive and yet dangerous. Some pepper notes soon came after. Very light black pepper for that matter. I would usually think of some black peppercorns with same age on them when thinking of this particular note. More than likely the sweet notes were more stronger than the spice in this case. Still enticing however. The more I drew in, the closer I was to my demise.....in sweetness. XD
The Burn Part 2:
As the Sweet notes were pretty much dominating the playing field a new note was coming into the scene. A trace of bourbon barrel notes were coming to lend a hand. The note itself was giving the rest a little more of a refined taste. You can only stay sweet for long until some other behavior comes along they say. As the next few puffs came along, the light black pepper notes started to build up in strength. I like a little more bite. The body began earlier as medium, now it was on the borderline to full.
The Burn Final:
The end was coming near and the cigar was becoming a little squishy from the feel with a little squeeze. I began to purge and the flame from the end was strong for about 24 seconds. Puffing again the notes were a little calmer with the semi sweet mocha notes. The pepper however stayed a little the same. The bourbon barrel notes were a little thicker this time around. As the stick was nearing it's end, the last notes to finish the race was the the mocha and pepper notes. With the cold draw end I put her in the ashtray graveyard.
Verdict:
Seductive, deadly, and oh so sweet. Want a treat for after dinner or just crave something near a Deadly Chocolate Sin Fudge cake, then grab you one of these little babies. She'll suck you in.
