Here's the coloured version of my homage to Howard Pyle. As promised, the longer story:
1687, between the riffs surrounding the Cayman islands.
Sublieutnant Henry Decker was ordered to capture or defeat a notorius french pirate, who unsaved the area of the Central Carrebean. The Buccaneer, a one-eyed wolf of a gorgeous strengh, was named Michel de Grammont. Because he kept little noble behavior, he was called "The Chevalier". If it was true, nobody knew.
Because the Chevalier "owned" a former English Man-of-War, the Revenge, Decker had to create a manoevre. He attacked the Chevalier only with two sloops and hardly three canons at all. After a terrific broadside shot by the Revenge, he hid his man under deck.
Confident of victory, de Grammont boarded Deckers sloop with just a few men. It should be his last boarding in his life.
It will stay a secret of Lieutnant Decker and the last ashamed thought of the Chevalier, that he was striked down by a young woman, costuming as a boy, who was hardly able to swing the cutlass.
Like the saying goes, de Grammont's body swam prostrate three times around his ship, until it sank into Davy Jones Locker.
