This is either the first or second 'furry' story I wrote, dating back to about 1995 if not before, and marking my entry into
fnc in issue #13.
The main character here, Mercedes, was actually created for a low-power Champions game I played back in University; she was a private detective who was also a telekinetic, drove an old car and deliberately affected the 'noir' look, and had a spirit bound to her by one of her ancestors which was how she got the powers. The gun she uses here was a 'gift' at the end of the first stage of the campaign. Somewhere out there there's an old Champions NPC archive that I submitted an early version of her to, where she was doing more 'Scooby Doo' style mysteries and using her telekinesis to trip people.
Turning her into an actual kitsune was done for this story, but it seemed to make sense.

Yeah, my first furry con was ConFurence 3 in 1992; that said, I've been going to cons in general since about 1985, at the Victoria International Cartoon Festival (with Mark Evanier and Sergio Aragones as guests). And I had found furry comics and the fandom in around 1988 or so, so about 30 years here as well.
