I installed my brand-spanking-new copy of Alias Sketchbook Pro 2010 last night and had to test it out. I was chatting with
redrodent at the time so I banged out a quick five-minute digital sketch of his character. "See, now THAT'S a bicep, son."
Posting it here to remind everybody I'm still alive!
This month has been rather hellish, and the following month isn't shaping up much better ... Without going into too much detail, I've got a big old freelance project with far too tight a deadline, on top of which I'm attempting to keep on top of acrylic badge orders and some commission I've promised people awhile ago. Plus various distractions, and a few bouts of not feeling anywhere near my level best.
Everyone waiting for a badge or a commission, I promise I'll be getting to it as soon as I can. I've got a list here of everything that needs doing and I'm shuffling through it as best as I can. Thanks for your patience. :)

Awesome work, Cooner! Love RedRodent's face and nothing is better than a flexing rat! *chuckles*
Awesome work overall and good to see you are "alive"! *chuckles* Would love to see you do more 5-min sketches! Just an idea! Keep up the good work, man! Keep it up!

Mrrf.... I hope things don't get too on too on top of you Conner. I'ms ure there are those who wouldn't pressure you for badges if you needed to get a few things sorted :3 And best of luck with the project, I hope it goes wel :)
And would ya suggest the Sketchbook pro? You done a wicked job of drawing Red :3

I've only used Sketchbook Pro a little bit, but so far it's got the most naturalistic-looking and -feeling pencil sketching tool of any other application I've used. :) The user interface is interesting, too .. one of those UI's that is very stylus-driven, with round click-and-flick style menus rather than linear drag-and-select menus, and an interesting way of handling canvas moving/rotating/resizing.
There's a free trial, I think 15 days of use, so it's worth taking a look at least. :)

Yeah, definetly :) Looks promising. I've had a few problems with photoshop and the likes, they always look too... fake? Refined? I dunno ^ ^; I'm the type who loves seeing sketches, and this looks like it might just reproduce that, heh.
Sorry to add extra onto this, but whaddya prefer then? The tablet? Or just plain and simply done by hand? :)

Yeah, Photoshop was never really designed as a natural art program; its original intent was to digitally manipulate photos (hence the name), and over time it's had enough features added that it can generate art from scratch as well. But I find that while it works for flat or airbrushed coloring styles, it's not so good for raw sketching or more organic color techniques. (Although some people have found pretty amazing ways to work around with it.) That's where stuff like Painter, ArtRage, or Sketchbook come in.
For sketching, drawing, cleanup, and inking, I always prefer pencil or pen on paper. I'll admit for coloring I get very used to having the digital control+Z handy though. :)

Yeah! Same here! :P I always draw it out by hand, then ink or clean it up. The colouring (if I do it ^ ^;) Is done on the computer. Its just.... easier... lazy as that sounds, it is, hurr! I would have to admit that I like the finished, sometimes smooth look that photoshop, GIMP and a few of the others give you though.
Anyways, You're doin' a top knotch job with what you've got now :3
