Perhaps an explorer could discover her on her native Island and take note of the long horn. Lorn horns could be attributed to males of other known species such as deer. A male explorer could approach her and get to know her while under the false assumption that the native is a male. She recognizes that she has attracted the attention of a male and steadily becomes interested in him. Questions about their compatibility would arise, but the male explorer would certainly come to be surprised that this island native is female gradually becoming interested in him as a potential mate.
