Whether welcome or un, take your pick.
Sandhill cranes are a bit of a peeve of mine. They're tall and stately and appear dignified and all, but they won't get out of your way unless you wave your arms like a village idiot. When they do choose to move out of your path, they walk, not run, and they jabber at you while looking at you like you owe them money.

Could be worse. It could have been a goat or a ram.
Geese are something not to mess with. I once lived near a farm that had a flock of geese that would cross the road to get to a cornfield. Some ditz driving was blocked as they were crossing and honked her horn to scare them off I think. Wrong thing! They lowered their heads and spread their wings in battle mode and surrounded her car ready to fight. Once I stopped laughing my ass off, I got her attention and signaled her to stop honking and flash her headlights instead. The geese finally went into the field and the car moved on. The only sign of the confrontation was a ring of goose poop around where the car was.

You need to hire a...
crane operator...
We have the wild turkeys up here in eastern Connecticut. I go by Oweneco Farms regularly -- farmed by Europeans since 1701 -- and there is always a flock in sight. The young Jakes are the worst. They get on top of the ancient stone walls that line the highway and play King of the Hill, pushing each other off and frequently landing in traffic.
For all that, I seldom see more than one sad pile of ruined feathers (and dinner) a year.

One of the oldest living species of bird known on the planet. These guys are pretty ugly, especially compared to to something like a Snowy Egret or Blue Heron. The birds I really cannot stand are Mocking Birds that attack anything that even remotely gets close to their nests, and Grackle, that show up by the hundreds and God help you if your car is under their tree.
