Yeah, sadly many can't separate fictional standards from reality. Just because a character is 8... for the last 26 years... doesn't mean people draw him as that age.
It's not canon that they all just bang each other, are gay for each other, and this, that, and the other. Why do people assume the age is going to stay the same when it comes to pornography? (though this doesn't sound like pornography here)

You can't fight that kind of issue on a place with furries, especially behind a good artist.
I see the same issue take place with the 12 year old Spyro and it's still defended because it's what the audience approves of. Sonic and Tails aren't of age but the fandom has such a large interest in them they have their own category like the cub scene once had.
