Joe's first assignment as a grim reaper was to take Werebro Brad's soul. Brad was supposed to die in a stunt involving a firework-powered rocket skateboard, but Joe decided to spare his life because he'd died in a similar accident just a few years earlier. They're dating now.

Joe's never actually taken a single soul in all his years on the job, but the afterlife is so crowded and busy that nobody's had time to inspect his work. He still gets payed.
