The artist only ever uploaded this to one place (DeviantArt), but it seems he's since cleaned up house and nothing before 2014 is present there anymore. Pity.

More old stuff. I think this was one of the first drawings I ever commissioned of Melee in his current outfit but years before his personality became less... happy. I remember first discovering the artist, seeing their work, and realizing they accepted commissions for a price that was just too good to ignore. No regrets. These days, commissioning that artist isn't as easy or as cheap (a shame, since I'd love to commission them again), but I'll always treasure this drawing.

I didn't have much in mind when I commissioned this pic. Just an image of Melee standing in what's supposed to be his homeland of Silvery; a place known mostly for vast mountains dotted with fertile valleys. It does its job in that regard, but I think what I remember this pic the most for is how the muzzle design influenced my own works; it convinced me to alter Melee's muzzle into a longer, more angular design. Prior to this, I gave my character these short, lumpy Dragontales-inspired snouts that, in hindsight, didn't look at all appealing. Other artists have taken liberties with my characters' snout designs, but for some reason this was the one that got me to change how I draw their faces. Funny how that works.
