Lookie what a couple dumbasses used!
On my way home tonight, boss gave me a 'take this on your way home' order, always a prepaid order if something pops up.
I take the order to the apartment complex, locate the customer and hand them their order and leave the door.
But just as I was getting to my car, two skinny ass teens, I guestimate 15-16 years old, shirts wrapped around their heads to form masks, zero tattoos or markings, jewelry, necklaces, but both wearing sagger pants popped out and pointed what you see at me. The 'gunman' was holding like it was a saw'd off shotgun, was wearing black gloves. The other kid said "Gimmie yo money an phone!"
I had my left side towards them, I instantly see the silver barrel of the 'gun', looking about .68 caliber and no handgun today is anywhere close to that. I tell them "Be cool, don't want any shit", and as I reach into my pocket...
Pulled out my Sig-365 9mm and pointed it at them and said "But mines real!" (Thats it below the paintball gun)
Instantly both kids bug-eyed as I point the Sig at the 'gunman', and immediately the kid sans the gun turned into the Flash and vanished into the next county, the 'gunman' turned around, eyes on me, and started running, instantly tripped over a parking curb and fell, dropping the paintball gun, got himself quickly up, eyes still on me and quickly vacated the area. I swear a dust cloud was trying to keep up with him. I stuff my finger down the barrel and pick up the gun and place it in my car.
Cops have been called, still waiting as I type this.
The day before another delivery driver was brutally assaulted by 2 individuals, not far from where I was at. They took his money, phone and beat the living snot out of the driver AFTER they robbed him. So I was on high alert. Plus being summertime, the morons are out in force looking for spare cash.
I didn't shoot the kid, cause I knew immediately that the gun was a fake, plus they immediately fled the scene. I hopefully put the fear of God into these potentially future Olympic runners, to choose a different path in life than robbery and crime.

Yeah, no. There’s a difference between a police officer who properly acts on training in a situation where the individual might have a live weapon and the action was clear assault (as in threat of force)...and a police officer shooting someone who complies with their instructions, justifying no lethal force.
You horrible person for having a g-g-g-gun!
And for depriving those poor, victims-of-society honor students of their only source of income.
If they had pulled that on an off-duty cop there would be lamentations, tearing of hair and beating of breasts and two very dead teenagers. Your restraint saved their lives.

It was more like he called their bluff that their fake gun wasn't real. There's a lot of this nonsense going on of folks dressing up/making non lethals/fake guns to look like real ones. The repercussions of you shooting the dummy with the fake would be endless and no doubt no one would place blame on the stupid one for creating their own demise.
This reminds me of a story where a gang in Arkansas tried to take a guys truck... so he reached into said truck, and shoved the muzzle (FSP included) of a (legal) AK47 into the leaders mouth... and his buddies scattered like roaches. Some time later, they tried *again*, this time they brought knives... and again, the guy reached into his truck, pulled out a .50AE Desert Eagle, and pressed it up against the leaders forehead so hard it left an indent... What he knew, and they didn't... he wasn't loaded in either case.... but apparently he's never had an issue with them since, so, there's that.
Ironically, you might have saved their lives... Hope they think real good about that.
Damn good thing nobody got hurt.
Reminds me of a couple of times I've had people try to fake me that they had guns and I called their bluff. I'll bet it never occurred to them that I could be someone with a real one when they did that...

On the one hand, I can understand the sentiment, but RT's realizing it wasn't a real gun could be argued by a District Attorney looking to make a name for him/herself that RT did not have a reasonable fear for his life since he knew the "gun" being pulled on him wasn't real.
Remember that he works in/near (not sure, offhand) Madison, which is a northern satellite of Bezerkley.

They are exceptionally lucky YOU KNEW their firearms weren't real.
I'm not sure I'd have bothered to look that closely, and the story would've ended very differently.
Sadly, our own 'Gubbermint' is doing it's level best to disarm "The People", so criminals of any ilk will have free run on society. 'cause only our 'Gubbermint' is supposed to have firearms, and is there to protect us from the bad guys.
Right.
Glad you weren't shot.
Glad those idiot punks weren't shot, ONLY if they never, ever try pulling this kind of shit again (and I know what the odds of THAT happening might be. Somewhere between never and Hell freezing over.)

Well, I hope they learn, and I hope the lesson they learn isn't "Bring a real gun next time."
As has been pointed out, pulling those on a cop would have gotten them an early grave. Pulling them on most armed citizens, would have gotten the same, and a ton of retaliatory lawsuits. You were perceptive, level headed, and merciful. Too bad you couldn't capture them for the police, but that's their job and maybe they'll figure out how fingerprints work. It shows a lot of restraint on your part, very commendable.
Still sounds like where you live and work is terrible.

Police know how fingerprints work just fine, when perps are dumb enough to leave them or other biological evidence.
Finding the fingers (and people) that said prints belong to is entirely a different issue. Even when police have the name of the suspect, there are far too many in this world willing to hide them from the law, and shield them from the consequence so of their own actions/decisions.
Still with these geniuses, it's only a matter of time before they wind up dead or before the judge for sentencing.

Crap..the hand gun, at night might have been able to fool me...that "shot gun" on the other hand...yeah no..Still, I walk with a broadsword strapped to my hip and my 9mm tucked under my left pec
Glad you were able to fend em off. Though, personally. I'd have shot them. I've zero tolerance for criminals or would be criminals.

Oh phew. So it was real
I've actually had to physically handle and stow some of the air soft pistols. here's the one I was having to put away: https://www.umarexusa.com/products/.....-airsoft-black
Minimal doctoring and removing the plastic cap. It's solid metal. So...yeah..it looks real enough

Reminds me of the movie snatch this scene https://youtu.be/LgBA1jA2-mo?t=1m58s
Unbelievable. There's no end to such idiots these days. I'm glad that you're alright. There's been way too many of such cases this year. It's really getting bad out there. I hope those 2 morons get caught, arrested, and rehabilitated. Hopefully choosing a better path. Though I doubt they'll learn. Let's just hope they don't pick up a real firearm next time. Dumb idiots.
