Every now and then there is a lesser developed endangered species that needs rescue.
Their planet could be dying or being torn apart by war. They need to be relocated to a new planet.
These "giants" acting as a sorta endangered wildlife rescue.
Most will be taken to a new suitable habitable planet to be released into the wild with some help.
Some will probably end up on a blackmarket or lost in space among giants.
A way old project I never got around to >3^
