Here is one of the articles I have done for Painter Magazine. So far I've done four and I am wrapping up the fifth today before I plunge back into my furry commissions.
This is only part of the tutorial! If you'd like to see the rest of the article, which features two other artists, go check out your local large book seller and buy the durn thing. :3

All in Painter Magazine, yes. One was for this one http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2433377, one was for this one http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2325450/, one was just an artist feature/interview, and this other one will be out in November. :3
Actually this is probably one of the better ones for traditionally-based artists out there. Every time I open up a digital art program, I feel like a bloody kindergartner all over again. This actually resembles some of my irl painting strategies and now that I know it can carry over, I'll definitely be trying it out.
Thanks for the linkup.

I bought a few issues of Painter Magazine a long time ago, didn't find them to be very interesting to me, though. But I will definitely consider picking up a copy just for this. What issue would this be?
Also, I have been missing my favorite ustream. I haven't seen anything announced for along time. Do you still do them?

The tutorial seems a bit vague in the sense that there is no "technique" being described (like what types of brushes to use). But at least the color aspect was relatively informative. I don't know about how much detail the full article has, since I haven't read it, but I do wish there was something about fur direction/flow, adding depth to clumped fur, etc.
Still, congrats either way on your article. That has to be a pretty darn nice thing to add to a resume. :)

But I did say what brushes I used in steps one and two. Detail Airbrush for sketching, and Round Oil Pastel for painting. As for fur technique, I mentioned direction in step two and I touch on that in the later steps of the article. Each step has a limited word count AND I was supposed to cover fur, feathers, and scales with a focus on using Painter. It's a very small amount of space to cram a LOT of information.
I suggest picking up some wildlife art books for some much better information on fur technique, such as Rod Lawrence's Painting Wildlife Textures - Step by Step.
That said, I am trying to complete a much more in depth tutorial in my spare time. :3
