Day 5: Slaughter
Serial killers exist in my fictional universe as well.
I asked Chimera (our resident serial killer fan) that if I were designing a serial killer for my universe what Earth serial killer I should base him off of.
He said Gacey, which surprsed none of us that know him.
You know, Chimera... for someone who was afraid of clowns as a kid, you sure ask for a lot of them...

I hate clown haters, raised on J.P. Patches, I disparage any who look at clowns in a bad light. I gave up Stephan King when he released IT. Gacy was the exception, but the clown haters make him the rule. Clowns were fun. entertainers, now, too many afraid of these who follow this age-old respected position.
Forgive me but I feel the need to respond to this so I’m gonna break a couple things down here.
1: the fear of clowns is a very common thing that a lot of people can’t control. Fear can be irrational so you can’t really blame people who fear clowns.
2: Gacy was not the exception. There have been plenty of people who dressed like clowns and chased people around and even one case where a woman was shot in the head by one.
3: clowns have been a part of the horror genre for a long time. They’re inherently unnatural which lends itself perfectly to horror. yes the reality is most professional clowns are nice people, but there’s nothing wrong with enjoying clowns in a creepy context. I personally love clowns in horror but I’m not a “clown hater” I love clowns and creepy ones are my favorite.

I beg to differ.
2: Only recently. in modern times. Clarabell and Bozo certainly were not hut you violent. Dangerous movies like Killer Klowns from outer space and the Klown subculture are not what clowns should be presented as.
3. No, not really. Clowns have a history stretching back to the middle ages, Jesters who were the only ones who could make fun of whomever was in power. and they were free from retaliation, for a king or prince who injured a clown for his jest would be VERY poorly looked on.
you might like the Unicorn Western books, in the later half of them, there is a big clown that is armed with shotguns. you'll love him.

It all boils down to different strokes for different folks. Just because you don’t enjoy the creepy clown image doesn’t mean that others don’t. If it’s not for you, great. But let others have their fun.
I like the traditional clown, but as a fan of the horror genre, I also like the creepy clown. I’m a fan of both. Does it mean I hate clowns because I like the creepy imagery. No. It just means I have diverse tastes.
Now I’m going to remind people to remain civil on my site because I will nip things in the bud if things start getting out of hand.

I may check it out. To call movies like Killer Klowns dangerous though is a pretty big overreaction in my opinion though. And yeah clowns may have started out like that but things change and evolve with time and to say that clowns and horror don’t go together in pop culture is just untrue, but enough of all this. I hate to be one of those people debating on someone else’s submission, but I just had to say my peace.
