They do bond for life, yes.

I've learned from my uncle and aunt owning zebra finches you never separate birds that are bonded for life. :(

If we have a pair of birds that have bonded, they MUST be sold together. No exceptions.

true they are always so cute.... the small ones are a real handful... but they only live for what 5 years.... I had Budgies for almost 9 years...the old girl I suspected her of starving her cage mate she had 4...
and her fifth one I separated them and he l lived a lot longer she would never let me touch her I had to be mean to clip her talons and clip her wings... something I never liked doing..... my first one died because I let it fly around..... you have to teach them about glass windows she killed herself.... but they really are a fun pet if you teach them tricks. they are such independent little buggers

Sadly, when I was beginning work at the store before I owned it, I lost a lovebird that same way. :/
