i sent that message to him, not you. 500 is a ton of money for someone like you and for someone to be so casual and say "if you want" instead of "save your money in case you need it" is awful. You do need to be responsible with that money because it's not just free money, it's meant for you to live off of. Speaking as someone in a similar but different situation, I spend very little of my money on things. I put aside less than $60 a month for my own personal use. Your parents are mad because you're basically throwing away money for no reason, and giving 500 to a random stranger for something that isn't even your own is probably the objective worst thing you could be putting your money towards that isn't illegal. You're not in a position to be generous, you need to be careful instead.
yeah, it's ok, walls of text don't bug me much. but the thing i want you to be able to take away from this is that you have to consider your parents and living expenses more than other stuff. even if it might be hard for you to do that. I gotta say it again, disability money isn't just free money from nowhere. someone has to pay for that, and it exists with the expectation of keeping people away from homelessness, not buying games and pictures. Please try your best to avoid impulse purchases, because a habit like that can only hurt you in the end.
