What's this? A sketch that ISN'T done with pens on cardboard scraps? Amazing. You know what's also amazing? I think this is the first drawing I've done of adult Sharon actually smiling. She... she doesn't get to do that a lot during her adult years, but she isn't all frowns all of the time. The huntress Sharon is usually not one to talk about herself or her exploits unless she's approached by an interested client, and even then she tries to be blunt and to the point. However, if you catch her during your travels and find her resting in a tavern, then she's likely between contracts, and that a few good beers or some mead will make her significantly more chatty and willing to share. She may have a tough exterior, but she's not above accepting a drink in exchange for a tale or two if you catch her in a good mood.
...I suppose you can think of this as a "Part 2" to a trash drawing I did a few months ago: Tavern Time with Sharon Medley. In that one, she was brushing off someone who was likely bragging about his own adventure, but now we have Sharon herself ready to boast about an adventure. Judging from that look on her face, it looks like she may have a good one to to tell.
I'm at a local furry convention, and I'll be here for most of the weekend so I figured I'd bring my sketchpad along. After all, if there was a good time to draw... not only that, but one of the rooms has a few tables with paper and some art supplies available for anyone to use, so I saw it fit to borrow some of their colored pencils and give the picture a bit more life. The selection was a bit... limited, but as anyone has seen with my later trash drawings, I am no stranger to working with limited colors. This drawing was done Friday night, but I was too tired to upload it upon coming home, so I figured I'd try to upload it before departing for the convention once more.
You'd think after how time I've spent drawing with pens cardboard that I'd have an easy time using pencils on paper. After all, it's a lot easier to correct a mistake with pencil, right? And drawings show up a lot better on paper than some scraggly cardboard scraps? Nope, I struggled! Had a lot of trouble getting the angle and perspective right on Sharon's face, and the torso gave me significant trouble, too. Her right hand is also a little messy; her hand seems a little on the large side, and those fingers longer than I'd have liked. I keep messing up with hands, but I'll hopefully get it right one day. Hopefully.
