Before there was Chances the rat, there was Chances the Ratonga, and before Chances the Ratonga ... there was Shink. Shink is the original Ratongan rogue and ex-thief who spent his life trying to change for the better under the guidance of the Vagabond Knights, a black sheep crew that caught him cleaning out their tavern coin box in the office one night. Given an offer of being given to the guard or working for these black sheep of Qeynos, he took the latter.

Always the moody one, unhappy with the shackles of working for an organization, Shink chaffed at the employment, even once escaping, only to find they had changed him for the better. Even after accepting his life, he tried hard to stay as much of an independent agent when he could. But even then, he sometimes had a hard time accepting this as his life.

He yearned for the shackles to come off, he yearned for his freedom.

With a gold coin weaving through his fingers, the surface wearing smooth from all the the times he had done this, he came up with an idea. To not toss away the shackles, but hide them, to be someone entirely different ... an alter ego.

And thus, Chances, the other side of the coin was born. But that is another story...
