Old English Dances Suite VI. Finale
Last part of the English Country Dances Suite.
The main tune here is the stately sounding dance "The Queen's birthday", loosely based on Holst's arrangement of it from his opera At the Boar's Head, in which he combines it with "Jenny come tie my cravat" (hey, I didn't come up with these names!), which also appears here. This piece finishes off with the morris dance "Cuckoo's Nest". A little hint of the tune from the first movement of this suite (Jenny Pluck Pears) makes an appearance towards the end to round everything off.
